Is a $1 federal reserve note the same as an $1 American Silver Eagle?

They don't seem to be trading the same for me.

Why does a $50 dollar American Eagle type 1 gold coin cost me $110 federal reserve notes more than a $50 American Eagle type 2 gold coin?
