Vatican City - Fra 'Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto was elected 80th Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta. Fra 'Giacomo Dalla Torre was born in Rome in 1944. He graduated in Literature at the University of Rome, specializing in Christian Archeology and History of Art, he held academic roles at the Pontifical Urban University, teaching classical Greek. He was also responsible for the Library and Archivist for important university collections. He has published a series of essays and articles on the history of medieval art. He became a member of the Order of Malta in 1985 and made solemn vows in 1993. From 1994 to 1999 he was Grand Prior of Lombardy and Venice and from 1999 to 2004 a member of the Sovereign Council. The General Chapter of 2004 elected him Grand Commander of the Order and at the death of the 78th Grand Master Fra 'Andrew Bertie became an interim Lieutenant.
