Dear Caregiver,

As professionals in health care, ensuring the safety of our patients, community, and each other is our first duty. We simply cannot take the needless risk to get our patients or coworkers sick—it’s a fundamental tenet of being a caregiver, often short-handed to “first, do no harm.” As another wave of COVID-19 rages through our hospitals, clinics, and other facilities, we must do everything we can to protect ourselves from this terrible disease. Fortunately, highly effective, safe, FDA-approved vaccines are readily available, and it is our duty as caregivers to get vaccinated.

To adhere to government mandates and Providence’s policy, caregivers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or request a qualifying medical or religious exemption—or they will be removed from the schedule. Please familiarize yourself with the information at the bottom of this message, including the chart that details the timeline for complying with the vaccination policy in Washington.

Our communities look to us as role models for how to avoid the devastating and deadly effects of COVID-19. For the health of all we serve, please get the vaccine as soon as possible.

Thank you for your complying with the COVID-19 vaccination mandate. This is a challenging time in health care, but we will get through it together and come out on the other side of this crisis as a stronger Providence family.

Sincerely,
