lack of glowing, pulsating, power hungry media, financial, and tech institutions influencing every aspect of life
government wasn't thoroughly corrupt
gov't agencies weren't thoroughly corrupt
no CIA, FBI, NSA tendrils

our forefathers would be so confused by all the wonders of the modernity, they would never even get to call us pussies due to shock and awe at all the complexities of modern society.
in fact, they might even be proud to know the country they founded is the most advanced nation on Earth in technology and cultural fluidity
