So often, this happens:
…they are running a drug through trials, and they notice consistent side effects. Like it just happens to decrease blood pressure.
Abracadabra! poof
They now have a new blood pressure medication!
It is too easy to assume that drugs are designed by careful engineering by scientists who have deep understandings of how the body works.
No. It'salmost the same as 10 thousand years ago. The shaman notices that the little kooky kid ate some strange berries and his warts fell off. Wart-remover!
It's basically random discoveries and astute observation.
Not making value judgements, but just saying… It's too easy to fall for the hype of super-smart "scientists" developing amazing drugs…. When a lot of these medications did not result from "science" but more from fortuitous (profitable) accidents.
