Pfizer Recalls All Chantix Stop-Smoking Medication Over Cancer Concerns

Individuals that are currently taking the recalled Chantix should consult with their healthcare provider about an alternative treatment option. They should also contact Stericycle at 1-888-276-6166, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET for instruction on how to return the product and receive a reimbursement for the cost of the unused medication.

Pfizer said in a statement about the recall, “Pfizer places the utmost emphasis on patient safety and product quality at every step in the manufacturing and supply chain process.”

The drugmaker said it has not received any reports of adverse events reported to the recall.

Pfizer initially recalled the stop-smoking medication on July 16 and expanded the recall on Aug. 16.
