General Kenneth McKenzie, U.S. Central Command commander, announced the completion of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. He told reporters there were no longer any American troops in the country and that the last U.S. plane had departed. He added that for those who were not able to leave, the diplomatic efforts to get them out would continue.
