Indictment Shows that John Durham Is Going After More People than Michael Sussmann

Let me start by acknowledging the legitimate skepticism of many Gateway Pundit commentators that any justice will come out of John Durham’s work. You have been promised the moon in the past and instead received a flaming bag of dog poop.

But let’s accept the fact that yesterday’s news that DNC lawyer Michael Sussmann was going to be indicted turned out to be true. Charlie Brown got to kick the football this time.

So what does this mean? Is it a meaningless gesture or the first domino to fall in a line of dominoes? I think this is just the first domino to fall and that others will come. I base this on what the indictment says.

Durham’s indictment of Sussmann lays out the foundation of a conspiracy. Michael Sussman was indicted for lying to the FBI about the source of information he gave the Bureau. He claimed he got it independently. He did not. It was bought and paid for by Hillary Clinton and her campaign. The indictment essentially charges Sussmann with sending the FBI on a wild goose chase:

The FBI had, in fact, initiated an investigation of these allegations in response to a meeting that MICHAEL A. SUSSMANN, the defendant herein– a lawyer at a major international law firm (“ Law Firm -1”, i.e. Perkins Coie) – requested and held with the FBI General Counsel on or about September 19, 2016 at FBI Headquarters in the District of Columbia. SUSSMANN provided to the FBI General Counsel three “ white papers” along with data files allegedly containing evidence supporting the existence of this purported secret communications channel.

During the meeting, SUSSMANN lied about the capacity in which he was

providing the allega to the FBI Specifically, SUSSMANN stated falsely that he was not doing his work on the aforementioned allegations “ any client,” which led the FBI General Counsel to understand that SUSSMANN was acting as a good citizen merely passing along information , not as a paid advocate or political operative . In fact, and as alleged in further detail below, this statement was intentionally false and misleading because, in assembling and conveying

these allegations, SUSSMANN acted on behalf of specific clients, namely, ( i ) a U.S. technology industry executive (“ Tech Executive- 1”) at a U.S. Internet company “Internet Company”) , and ( ii) the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign (the “Clinton Campaign”).

That “Tech Executive” and the Hillary Clinton Campaign are now possible targets. The critical question is whether or not Sussmann was acting on his own. The indictment states he was acting at the behest of the Tech Executive and Hillary. It would be prosecutorial incompetence if they had not already be interviewed and evidence collected against them.

South Australia Testing Quarantining App That Combines Facial and Geolocation Technology to Determine Where You Are At All Times

Even a broken clock is right two times a day. The Atlantic reported on the absurd liberty killer being tested in the state of South Australia where facial recognition and geolocation technology will track Aussies every move in the name of COVID.

The far-left Atlantic even hits the target sometimes. In a recent article, the Atlantic even admits that Australians have traded away too much liberty in the age of COVID. The Atlantic reports:

Intrastate travel within Australia is also severely restricted. And the government of South Australia, one of the country’s six states, developed and is now testing an app as Orwellian as any in the free world to enforce its quarantine rules. Returning travelers quarantining at home will be forced to download an app that combines facial recognition and geolocation. The state will text them at random times, and thereafter they will have 15 minutes to take a picture of their face in the location where they are supposed to be. Should they fail, the local police department will be sent to follow up in person. “We don’t tell them how often or when, on a random basis they have to reply within 15 minutes,” Premier Steven Marshall explained. “I think every South Australian should feel pretty proud that we are the national pilot for the home-based quarantine app.”

Other states also curtailed their citizens’ liberty in the name of safety. The state of Victoria announced a curfew and suspended its Parliament for key parts of the pandemic. “To put this in context, federal and state parliaments sat during both world wars and the Spanish Flu, and curfews have never been imposed,” the scholar John Lee observed in an article for the Brookings Institution. “In responding to a question about whether he had gone too far with respect to imposing a curfew (avoiding the question of why a curfew was needed when no other state had one), Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews replied: ‘it is not about human rights. It is about human life.’”

In New South Wales, Police Minister David Elliott defended the deployment of the Australian military to enforce lockdowns, telling the BBC that some residents of the state thought “the rules didn’t apply to them.” In Sydney, where more than 5 million people have been in lockdown for more than two months, and Melbourne, the country’s second-biggest city, anti-lockdown protests were banned, and when dissenters gathered anyway, hundreds were arrested and fined, Reuters reported.

Blinken calls for more ‘normalization’ of ties with Israel as he celebrates Trump-brokered Abraham Accords

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on more countries in the Arab world to normalize diplomatic ties with Israel, offering rare praise to Trump’s diplomacy as he marked one year since the signing of a landmark peace deal.

Speaking at a virtual meeting on Friday with his counterparts from Israel, Bahrain, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Blinken promised that Washington would help foster the fledgling diplomatic relationship between these countries, and called for more normalization of Arab-Israeli relations.

“We will encourage more countries to follow the lead of the Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco,” he said. “We want to widen the circle of peaceful diplomacy.”

The meeting took place on the first anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Accords, which formally established diplomatic relations between Israel, the UAE and Bahrain last September. Israel and Sudan normalized diplomatic ties several weeks later, while Morocco recognized Israel that December.

The Abraham Accords were mediated by former President Donald Trump’s administration and seen as one of his signature diplomatic achievements. Though partisanship is rife in Washington, support for Israel is one issue on which both Democrats and Republicans see eye to eye, and it is unsurprising that Blinken praised Trump for negotiating the agreements.

“This administration will continue to build on the successful efforts of the last administration to keep normalization marching forward,” he said during Friday’s meeting.

Also speaking at the meeting was Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, who said that he would visit Bahrain later this month, the first such visit by an Israeli foreign minister. “We have to also mention the fact that this Abraham Accords club is open for new members,” Lapid remarked, hailing what he called “this new era of cooperation and friendship.”

For Blinken, the conviviality of Friday’s event was likely a welcome change of pace. As of late, Blinken has weathered intense criticism over the Biden administration’s bungled pullout from Afghanistan, which saw the military withdraw before civilians, only to return and oversee an evacuation from a crowded single-runway airport, while the Taliban seized a bounty of US weapons and equipment and took immediate control of the country, and while some American citizens were left behind and 13 US troops lost their lives in a suicide bombing.

Anger at Blinken was bipartisan. At a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Tuesday, committee chair Sen. Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey) told Blinken that the withdrawal was “clearly and fatally flawed,” and warranted a “full explanation.” The committee’s top Republican, Senator James Risch of Idaho, called the withdrawal a “dismal failure” and accused the Biden administration of “ineptitude.”

Second Dutch minister quits after parliament censures cabinet over mishandling of Afghanistan evacuation

The Dutch defense minister has announced her resignation, following the foreign minister’s departure on Thursday. The political exodus follows a parliamentary vote to censure the cabinet over chaotic evacuations from Kabul.

Ank Bijleveld announced her resignation on Friday, stating that the criticism she faces would obstruct the Defense Ministry’s efforts to extract those still stranded in Afghanistan.

“I wanted to continue to complete … the mission to bring the interpreters who are still in Afghanistan, and who are counting on us, to safety,” she said. “However, I note that my stay has become the subject of discussion. As a result, I can no longer bear the responsibility for my people in a good way … I don't want me to get in the way of their important work.”

The statement sharply contrasted with remarks Bijleveld delivered on Thursday, after the parliament censured her over the Dutch government’s handling of the evacuation. After the motion was passed, the minister said her priority was “still to get interpreters who are still in Afghanistan to safety,” regardless of legislators’ criticisms.

The parliament also passed a separate motion censuring the whole cabinet and naming Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag as the one ultimately responsible for the evacuation failures. Shortly after the vote, Kaag announced her resignation, hinting that Bijleveld should quit as well.

“In my view on democracy and the culture of our administration, a minister should go if the policy is disapproved of. I will therefore submit my resignation as minister of foreign affairs to His Majesty the King,” Kaag said in a statement to parliament.

The Netherlands was among the Western states that scrambled to evacuate both its own nationals and a cohort of locals who worked for them in Afghanistan, following the collapse of the Afghan government and the Taliban takeover. Over two weeks in August, the Netherlands extracted some 2,100 people from Afghanistan, with about 1,700 left in the country. Hundreds of Dutch nationals, many of Afghan origin, as well as an unknown number of former local employees were left behind.

White House Plans To Donate Millions Of COVID Shots After Pfizer Says 'Mysterious' White Particles Are 'Safe'

After finding mysterious white floating contaminants in five unused vials of Pfizer's COVID vaccine (the safety profile of which is presently being reexamined by an FDA advisory board) Pfizer has managed to convince Japanese health authorities that the particles are "safe".

Apparently, the vials containing the white floating matter all belong to the same Pfizer vaccine lot (No. FF5357), said the cities of Sagamihara, and Kamakura, and Sakai, according to the Kyodo News agency. The vaccines were discovered in different areas, and vaccine lots can often number in the hundreds of thousands of jabs. Local health authorities asked that Pfizer "review" the substances in the vials, though they didn't ask that shots from the same lot be suspended.

Meanwhile, back in the US, the Washington Post just reported - in an "exclusive" scoop likely spoon-fed to its journalists - that the administration is planning to buy hundreds of millions of additional doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech jab to donate to less fortunate countries from around the world. The announcement is expected to be made around the start of next week's United Nations General Assembly meeting, though the details haven't yet been finalized.

Some might say the administration's latest "gift" is merely more transparent virtue signaling as Biden continues to push booster jabs in the US against the wishes of the WHO.

Well, never mind all that. Because, during a press conference on Wednesday, Pfizer’s Japanese subsidiary said the material was likely ingredients that had not been fully dissolved and would not affect the safety or the performance of the vaccine. What's more, Pfizer revealed that through Sept. 5, floating matter had been reported in 95 vials.

It's not the first vaccine incident in recent weeks. Several weeks ago, the Japanese Health Ministry suspended 1.63MM doses of Moderna’s COVID jab due to contamination. Weeks later, their government confirmed early in September that three people died after receiving a shot from the since-suspended batches of Moderna’s vaccine (which of course is based on the same mRNA technology as the Pfizer jab).

An investigation later revealed that stainless steel particulates had contaminated the Moderna doses. The two firms traced it back to a production site in Spain.

Three deaths have been reported in Japan among recent recipients of the Moderna jab. But no link was established between the deaths and any potential contamination.

French billboard owner hit with €10,000 fine for depicting president Macron as Hitler on Covid protest poster

A court in southern France has slapped a billboard owner with a €10,000 fine for "public insult" after President Emmanuel Macron was depicted on the man's public advertising panel as Hitler during anti-Covid-rules demonstrations.

On Friday, a court in Toulon slapped Michel-Ange Flori with the hefty penalty of €10,000 ($11,755) for having represented the French president as Hitler on a billboard.

A prosecutor argued in court that Flori's images had shown an "obvious desire to do harm."

Flori has declared his decision to appeal, slamming the ruling as having buried "the right to caricature."

France's president sued Flori in late July after posters were put up on two large billboards along an entrance route into Toulon city. The image in question depicted Macron donning the uniform and moustache of the Nazi leader touting the orders: "obey, get vaccinated." The acronym of the president's party LREM (The Republic on the Move) was also manipulated in the image to take the shape of a swastika.

"So, in Macronia you can make fun of the prophet's ass, that's satire, but to make the president look like a dictator is blasphemy," Flori posted on Twitter at the end of July.

Mid-July saw the introduction in France of mandatory vaccinations for healthcare workers, as well as the so-called "health pass" that requires holders to prove their viral or vaccinated status for access into certain public spaces. Since Paris' announcement, waves of protest, some against even the very notion of the measures, have rocked the nation.

Nazi symbolism has featured amongst anti-Covid protesters across France. A vaccination center in Landes in the Southwest of the country was defaced on July 19, with anti-vax vandals scrawling the words 'Nazis' and 'collaborators,' along with drawings of several swastikas. Just over a week later, in Vendôme, 'genocide' was painted on the floor of another hub.

France scrapped its law of "insulting the president of the Republic" in 2013 after facing criticism from the European Court of Human Rights. Previously, any negative statements could result in financial penalties and a criminal conviction. However, the head of state is protected against public slander like other Frenchmen, but charges are rare.

Inquiry launched into European Commission chief’s refusal to hand over text messages she exchanged with Pfizer CEO

The European Ombudsman has demanded that Commission President Ursula von der Leyen explain how she lost text messages that she exchanged with the CEO of Pfizer during talks about vaccine procurement.

European Ombudsman Emily O’Reilly, the EU’s top accountability and governance officer, launched an inquiry into the European Commission’s refusal to hand over the contents of communications between von der Leyen and a CEO of an unnamed pharmaceutical company about a Covid-19 vaccine contract.

As a first step, O’Reilly asked the Commission to explain its policy on keeping records of von der Leyen’s text messages. “The Commission has an obligation to record instant messages relating to important policy or political matters, such as the procurement of Covid-19 vaccines,” O’Reilly’s office wrote in a statement about the case.

In April, the New York Times reported that von der Leyen had been exchanging texts and calls with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla for a month as part of negotiations about vaccine procurement for the bloc. The paper wrote at the time that personal diplomacy played a big role in securing the vaccine deal.

O’Reilly requested that the Commission hand over the text messages, but the Commission claimed that “no record had been kept of any such messages,” according to the ombudsman’s office.

The office has previously warned about the importance of record-keeping within EU institutions amid an increased amount of remote work in the Covid era. “EU administration is required by EU law to draw up and retain documentation pertaining to its activities, as far as possible and in a non-arbitrary and predictable manner,” the watchdog said in June.

New York judge rules Prince Andrew’s accuser can serve him with legal papers via his US lawyer

New York judge Lewis Kaplan ruled on Friday that Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, can be served with legal papers in the ongoing civil case launched by Virginia Giuffre, who claims the royal assaulted her at three locations.

The decision by the American judicial figure comes amid a dispute between Giuffre’s lawyers and the Prince’s representatives over whether he has been officially notified of the civil claim and legal proceedings against him.

“Service on the defendant’s US counsel is reasonably calculated to bring the papers served to the defendant’s attention, regardless of whether his US counsel is ‘authorised’ to accept service on his behalf,” Judge Kaplan stated.

Lawyers representing Giuffre claim to have made five attempts to reach the royal, with representatives from the law firm Boies Schiller Flexner having released photographs showing an envelope being posted on September 9, which they claim contains papers informing him of the case.

Separately, the UK High Court accepted a request earlier this week by Giuffre’s lawyers, setting a one-week deadline for the Duke of York to challenge the London court’s decision to formally contact the Prince to inform him of the start of legal proceedings.

Democrat Campaign Attorney Michael Sussmann Pleads Not Guilty After Durham Indictment

A lawyer who worked for the Democratic National Committee who was charged with allegedly lying to the FBI when trying to present information that would damage then-candidate Donald Trump pleaded not guilty.

Special prosecutor John Durham, who has spent the past two years investigating the origins of the FBI’s probe into whether Trump’s campaign coordinated with Russia, charged Michael Sussmann, who had worked with high-powered Washington-based law firm Perkins Coie on Democrat-backed election matters. Sussmann appeared in a Washington courtroom on Friday morning and entered his plea.

Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui released Sussmann on his own recognizance, setting his next court date on Sept. 22 before Washington District Court Judge Christopher Cooper. If convicted, he faces as many as five years in prison.

A Durham-empaneled grand jury indicted Sussmann over his September 2016 meeting with former FBI General Counsel James Baker, who now works for Twitter. Sussmann passed along a claim alleging that there was a secret communications channel between a Russian bank and the Trump Organization. Durham alleged that Sussmann told Baker that he was not representing a specific client but was actually secretly representing Democrats, Clinton’s campaign, and an unnamed technology company executive.

Court papers filed on Thursday against Sussmann argued that the lawyer’s allegedly false statement was material because he was in fact, allegedly working on behalf of specific clients.

“Sussmann stated falsely that he was not doing his work on the aforementioned allegations ‘for any client,’ which led the FBI General Counsel to understand that Sussmann was acting as a good citizen merely passing along information, not as a paid advocate or political operative,” the indictment read, adding that the alleged lie “was intentionally false and misleading because, in assembling and conveying these allegations, Sussmann acted on behalf of specific clients, namely, a U.S. technology industry executive at a U.S. internet company, and the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign.”

Baker, during a previous Congressional hearing, said that Sussmann provided the information to him and at least one journalist. This came before the FBI’s application for a FISA warrant to surveil a former Trump campaign aide. Perkins Coie, on behalf of the Democrats, also hired Fusion GPS, which then hired Christopher Steele to produce the “Steele dossier” that contained numerous discredited claims against the former president.

Around the same time, news outlets like the New York Times and MSNBC repeatedly began to characterize Trump as a candidate who works on behalf of Russia and its President Vladimir Putin. The FBI said it investigated the Russian bank–Trump Organization claim and found no connections between the two.

During his presidency, Trump often decried allegations his campaign was connected to Moscow as a long-running hoax and witch hunt designed to denigrate his presidency and reelection chances.

On Thursday, Sussmann’s lawyers denied any wrongdoing.

“Michael Sussmann was indicted today because of politics, not facts,” Sussmann attorneys Sean Berkowitz and Michael Bosworth said in a statement. “The Special Counsel appears to be using this indictment to advance a conspiracy theory he has chosen not to actually charge. This case represents the opposite of everything the Department of Justice is supposed to stand for. Mr. Sussmann will fight this baseless and politically-inspired prosecution.”

And a spokesperson for Perkins Coie told news outlets that Sussmann said he would resign and focus on his legal defense.

Perkins Coie hasn’t yet responded to a request for comment.

Milley Says Calls to Chinese General Were ‘Perfectly’ Within His Job Duties

Faced with calls to resign or an investigation, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley on Friday defended two phone calls he allegedly made in secret to his Chinese Communist Party counterpart.

The general reached out to Gen. Li Zuocheng of the People’s Liberation Army several days before the November 2020 election and two days after the Capitol breach on Jan. 6 to reassure the Chinese army that an attack isn’t incoming, according to excerpts of a book that was published this week.

Milley, the top U.S. general, described the two phone calls as “routine” and claimed they were done “to reassure both allies and adversaries in this case in order to ensure strategic stability,” reported The Associated Press. When speaking to the news agency, he only offered a brief comment about his two calls with Li and said he will speak about his calls in front of Congress later this month when both he and Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin are scheduled to testify.

“I think it’s best that I reserve my comments on the record until I do that in front of the lawmakers who have the lawful responsibility to oversee the U.S. military,” Milley told AP. “I’ll go into any level of detail Congress wants to go into in a couple of weeks.”

But he added that the calls were “perfectly within the duties and responsibilities” of his role.

According to the book, written by journalist Bob Woodward and Washington Post reporter Robert Costa, Milley allegedly told Li that “if we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise.” The call raised questions about whether he was undermining then-President Donald Trump’s authority.

Milley made those calls, the book has alleged, because he was fearful of Trump would carry out military action during the waning days of his presidency. Trump didn’t, and former acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller told Fox News that Milley’s alleged calls were not authorized by him before saying that the general should resign from his post.

Trump said that if the reports about Milley’s calls are accurate, the general should be charged with treason against the United States. The former president also sharply criticized him for the chaotic and rushed military withdrawal from Afghanistan that left billions of dollars in military equipment and hardware to be captured by the Taliban.

During news a news conference earlier in the week, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby repeatedly declined to answer specific questions about phone calls between Li and Milley, characterizing such conversations between foreign counterparts as routine. White House press secretary Jen Psaki also said that President Joe Biden has the “complete confidence” in Milley’s leadership, suggesting the administration won’t seek his ouster in the near future.

A spokesperson for Milley’s office, Col. Dave Butler, also defended the calls as routine and said Milley often communicates with generals in Russia and China.

“These conversations remain vital to improving mutual understanding of U.S. national security interests, reducing tensions, providing clarity and avoiding unintended consequences or conflict,” Butler said in a statement earlier this week.

Republicans in Congress have demanded an investigation into Milley’s calls, with some calling for his resignation. Some members of the media have also called for his ouster.

Hysterical headlines from Britain’s predominantly far-left press corps shrieked about the advent of “Britain’s Fox News” as if Fox News even pretends to represent the political right in America anymore. Nonetheless, the Murdoch empire is still the bogeyman in Britain, a country that pretends to have “impartial” press regulation mechanisms which in practice only ever slap people for right-leaning content. It recruited “talent” (oh, the irony) from the BBC, Sky News, and all the other places they claimed to be attempting to steer away from. The launch was shoddy to say the least. Humiliating at times. And the “talent” to this day is composed of people ranging from the far-left of cultural, identity politics to barely the centre ground. The only person on staff even remotely associated with the right is Nigel Farage. More on that, later.

After a tumultuous launch, the founder and Chairman of the organization, Andrew Neil, went on a prolonged vacation.

TV Actress Allison Mack Enters Prison in NXIVM Sex Slave Case

NEW YORK—TV actress Allison Mack, who played a key role in the cultlike group NXIVM, has surrendered to a California prison to serve her sentence in a New York case against the group’s spiritual leader.

Mack, best known for her role as a young Superman’s close friend on “Smallville,” was sentenced to three years behind bars in June. She had previously pleaded guilty to the charges she manipulated women into becoming sex slaves for NXIVM leader Keith Raniere.

A prison website showed Thursday that she had entered a low-security facility in Dublin, California, about 35 miles east of San Francisco.

Mack, 39, dodged a longer prison term by becoming a government cooperator in the federal case. Prosecutors credited her with helping them mount evidence showing how Raniere created a secret society of brainwashed women who were branded with his initials.

Raniere was sentenced last year to 120 years in prison for his conviction on sex-trafficking charges.

Google, Apple Accused of ‘Political Censorship’ After Removing Voting App as Russian Polls Open

Apple and Google removed a tactical voting app from its online store on Friday that was linked to Kremlin critic and jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny as polls opened across Russia for three days of voting in a parliamentary election.

The move was prompted after Russian authorities put pressure on the U.S. tech giants to remove the app from their stores, saying a refusal to do so would be treated as meddling in its parliamentary election while also threatening the companies with fines.

The app is part of the “Smart Voting” project, which was created by a team of Navalny supporters. It was designed to organize a tactical voting campaign to channel opposition votes to United Russia—President Vladimir Putin’s ruling political party.

Ivan Zhdanov, an ally of Navalny, said on social media that the move by Apple and Google to remove the app is “shameful” and amounts to “political censorship.”

“Removing the Navalny app from stores is a shameful act of political censorship,” Zhdanov wrote on Twitter. “Russia’s authoritarian government and propaganda will be thrilled.”

Both companies have not immediately responded to a request for comment, although Zhdanov linked a statement on Friday that appears to be from Apple, saying the app was removed from its store because it is illegal in Russia.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Friday that the presidential administration “definitely, of course” welcomes the companies’ decision to remove the app, as it comes in compliance with Russian laws. Peskov said that the app was “outside the law” in Russia.

The parliamentary election this weekend is widely seen as an important part of Putin’s efforts to cement his grip on power ahead of the 2024 presidential election, for which control of the parliament is key.

Earlier this month, Russian authorities also blocked access to the Smart Voting website, which aims to identify candidates who are in the strongest position in the Sept. 19 election in order to channel opposition votes, although some internet users can still access it.

In an Instagram post earlier this month, Navalny’s team said that the move to block the Smart Voting website shows that Russian authorities are “panicking” and “afraid.”

Navalny, meanwhile, published a step-by-step guide on his Instagram Stories, detailing how supporters could attempt to bypass the block.

GOP Senators Demand NIH Provide Answers on Deletion Of COVID-19 Data

A group of Republican senators on Thursday again demanded that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provide answers to reports that vital COVID-19 data was deleted from a key government database at the request of a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official.

In a follow-up letter (pdf) to NIH Director Francis Collins, Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, and Roger Marshall of Kansas, called on the federal medical research agency to answer questions that they say may shed light on data relating to the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and NIH’s COVID-19 data retention policies.

The lawmakers in their initial letter in June cited a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) article that reported that Chinese researchers “directed” the NIH “to delete gene sequences of early COVID-19 cases from a key scientific database,” called the NIH Sequence Read Archive.

The WSJ article reported that the deleted data includes COVID-19 genomic sequences from viral samples collected in Wuhan in January and February 2020 from hospital patients. The first cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, were reported in Wuhan, China, late 2019.

At the time, the senators asked Collins to provide a list of explanations focused on the CCP deletion requests, identifying who at NIH has authority to delete such data, the characteristics of the Wuhan samples, and numerous related issues.

On Sept. 8, Collins said, in a reply to the senators, that a review was underway to determine “whether appropriate steps were taken to assess this withdrawal request.”

“[O]n June 28, 2021, we wrote to you requesting answers to seven questions pertaining to the NIH’s role and responsibility with respect to the Sequence Read Archive (SRA) relating to COVID-19 data,” the Republican senators wrote in their letter on Thursday.

The NIH’s Sept. 8 response “failed to fully and completely answer all seven questions and failed to provide the requested records,” they wrote.

“As we have made clear to you, Congress has a constitutional responsibility to engage in oversight of the executive branch and the executive branch has an obligation to Congress and the American people to substantively respond,” the senators continued.

They said that they are reposing the unanswered questions from their June letter, adding that if the NIH is unable to respond to each question and provide the requested records, the agency must explain why that is the case.

The Republican senators are also requesting the results of an independent probe conducted within the NIH over the issue, and that the agency reveal how many researchers and other personnel linked to the CCP have requested that data be deleted from the NIH Sequence Read Archive in the past five years.

“With more than 650,000 American lives lost and trillions of taxpayer dollars spent to support the American people, businesses, and the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic, the public deserves to know what their government knows about the origins of this global illness and the research data that it possesses,” a statement from Grassley’s office said.

UN to UK: ‘Consider Keeping Your Borders Open’, Change Anti-Illegal Immigration Bill

United Nations representative Rossella Pagliuchi-Lor has urged British politicians to “consider keeping your borders open” and criticised pending government legislation against illegal immigration.

Pagliuchi-Lor, who represents the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) — the UN Refugee Agency — in the United Kingdom, made the comments at a Home Affairs Select Committee evidence session titled ‘Afghanistan: safe routes and resettlement’, examining the situation in the South Asian country and related migration issues in the wake of the Taliban takeover there.

The select committee was warned of an “impending humanitarian catastrophe” in the newy-declared Islamic emirate by another contributor to the session — with Afghanistan having been “on life support” under the former Western regime, and the “extreme fragility of the economy” likely to be dealt a devastating blow by factors including drought and city-dwellers with no land losing their former salaries — and Pagliuchi-Lor did say the UNHCR had already noted an “uptick” in people leaving the country, if no “dramatic outflows” as yet.

She had a great deal of criticism for the upcoming Nationality and Borders Bill, which will supposedly toughen measures against illegal migrants and those who facilitate illegal migration, claiming to find it “a bit ironic to be honest, that the very same people we felt so affected by when we saw them hanging from planes in Kabul, or those we are now discussing how they should be extracted … if they extracted themselves and made it here, they would, if that bill were law, be liable to potentially four years in jail and then subject to some attempts to return them to some other countries.”

She later reiterated “There is something ironic in the way we are so concerned about them while they are there, but we are ready not to consider them when they come to the UK,” expressing the UN’s view that the bill would be “in breach of international law”.

The measures referenced by Pagliuchi-Lor are clearly intended to be aimed primarily at illegal migrants seeking to enter the United Kingdom via France, however — a safe, first world nation and EU member-state, where the situation of migrants is not remotely comparable to that of Afghans at Kabul attempting to escape the Taliban by clinging to the undercarriage of evacuation flights.

Walgreens security breach leaked millions of patients’ covid test data to hackers, including your birthday and home address

Did you or someone you know ever get tested for the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) at a Walgreens pharmacy location? If so, you should probably know that your personal information, including test results, may have been stolen by hackers.

Your name, birthday, “gender identity,” phone number, address and email could have been one of the millions that were leaked in a massive data breach that even Walgreens admits probably also set loose people’s covid test results.

Numerous vulnerabilities on the Walgreens website make it relatively easy for hackers to pry into people’s pharmaceutical habits, security experts have warned. Walgreens should know better and update its site, but that has not happened yet.

As a result, anyone who does business with Walgreens could be standing out there “naked” in cyberspace somewhere, at least as far as their personal information and covid status is concerned.

A report about the breach explains that active unique patient IDs can easily be guessed, or a hacker could create a bot to rapidly generate new URLs in the hopes of striking “gold.”

In a statement, Walgreens insisted that it “routinely” evaluates the security protocols on its website to ensure that personal patient data is protected at all times – but not everyone agrees.

“Any company that made such basic errors in an app that handles health care data is one that does not take security seriously,” says Alejandro Ruiz, a consultant with a company called Interstitial Technology PBC, as quoted by a news source that reported on the vulnerabilities at Walgreens.

Rather than fix the problems after being notified about them, Walgreens reportedly ignored Ruiz’s warnings and continued on as normal. The company also issued a canned statement about how “we regularly review and incorporate additional security enhancements when deemed either necessary or appropriate.”

Walgreens knows about security vulnerabilities but is failing to address them

Not only do hackers have potential access to private Walgreens customer records but so do unscrupulous advertising and data-mining companies that might go in there and steal it all in order to sell it.

Since Walgreens refuses to do anything to try to protect this data, it is critical for people to know this about the pharmacy chain before they decide, or undecide, to do business there.

Why would anyone who wants to keep their covid status private ever choose to go to Walgreens for a test, for instance? Do people even know that their medical data is so easily siphoned from the Walgreens website?

Chances are that most people do not know about any of this, which is why we wanted to make you aware of it. These data vulnerabilities have been present at the Walgreens website for years, and yet the company refuses to do anything about it.

“The technical process that Walgreens deployed to protect people’s sensitive information was nearly nonexistent,” warns Zach Edwards, a privacy researcher and founder of the analytics firm Victory Medium, as quoted by another media source.

“Security by obscurity is an awful model for health records,” added Sean O’Brien, the founder of Yale’s Privacy Lab.

As it turns out, there is a ton more data stored on the Walgreens website that is likewise vulnerable to hacking or some other kind of breach. While only the patient’s name and type of test are available on the public-facing side of the pages, there is a private-facing side that is just as susceptible to being “leaked,” experts warn.

With just a few clicks in a browser’s developer tools panel, the sky is the limit in terms of what could be extracted from the Walgreens website. Patients beware.

Apple threatened to remove Facebook from the App Store in 2019 over human traffickers in Middle East using the site and Instagram as sex 'slave markets', report claims

Apple threatened to remove Facebook's apps from the App Store in 2019, following a BBC report that showed human traffickers set up 'slave markets' to sell women to the highest bidder, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The WSJ obtained internal documents from the social media firm that detail how its own employees were searching for human traffickers in the Middle East.

Facebook investigators found these groups posted advertisements for domestic workers as a front for selling women off as slaves or sex workers.

The WSJ found that Facebook does remove some of these pages, but it has yet to design a system that stops offenders from reposting under a new account.

A Facebook spokesperson told DailyMail.com in an email that they social media firma has 'had people working on this issue for many years but expanded our efforts to include a dedicated team in 2019.'

'We do not allow content or behavior on Facebook or Instagram that may lead to human exploitation, the continued.

'Our policies are developed in consultation with expert organizations, including the UN, and do not allow people to post content or accounts related to domestic servitude.

'We've been working to combat human trafficking for domestic servitude on our platform for many years.'

On the other hand, fixing this system does not put money in Facebook's pocket and the company would rather spend its time retaining users, helping business partners and 'at times placating authoritarian governments,' according to WSJ.

Brian Boland, a former Facebook vice president who oversaw partnerships with internet providers in Africa and Asia before resigning at the end of last year, told the paper that the social media company looks at abuse in developing countries as 'simply the cost of doing business.'

It is not yet clear why Apple did not follow through with its threat in 2019.

Horowitz: Heavily vaccinated state accounts for 65% of India’s COVID cases after rejecting ivermectin

The Indian state of Kerala has 3% of India's population, and 67% of its inhabitants have at least one vaccination. One would expect Kerala's COVID cases to be so low as to be invisible in a chart of India's very low overall cases. Yet this state of just 33 million people accounted for 65% of all of India's cases on Thursday, and even more in recent weeks. It has essentially been the only state experiencing a surge in recent months. It also happens to be the Indian state that has rejected ivermectin.

I have written several columns on the miracle of Uttar Pradesh, India's largest state, which has essentially eradicated COVID with the universal use of ivermectin. In general, most of India experienced very few COVID cases since the large spring wave because there is a great deal of immunity built up. However, Uttar Pradesh, despite its population of 240 million people, has been averaging fewer than 20 cases over the past few months for its seven-day rolling average.

More than 10,000 mostly Haitian migrants have gathered there in recent days, in a temporary camp which has have ballooned since Joe Biden halted deportation flights back to Haiti.

The president canceled deportation flights of migrants to Haiti on September 8 and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) extended temporary protected status (TPS) to Haitian nationals while the country is rocked by its biggest crises since the 2010 earthquake.

Under TPS, foreign nationals cannot be deported back to countries hit by natural or manmade disasters, enabling Haitians to live in the US without legal status.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz said that, in the space of just eight days, the population at the camp has surged from 700 on September 8 to 10,503 on September 16.

Now, thousands more are now fleeing to the US from Haiti after the Caribbean nation plunged into turmoil this summer with the assassination of its president followed by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake in August, which killed more than 2,200 people and destroyed 100,000 homes.

Posters on display in California HS classroom display ‘F the police’ and ‘F Amerikkka’ phrases

A California high school classroom displayed what an anonymous parent called “disgusting brainwashing of students with taxpayer dollars” over photos that show F the Police and F Amerikkka posters and Pride and Black Lives Matter flags, according to a tip provided by a parent to Parents Defending Education.

The parent of a student at Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) shared photos of the posters and flags in the classroom with Parents Defending Education (PDE), a national grassroots organization working to fight “indoctrination in the classroom.”

Photos show an American flag lying on furniture in the classroom, while the Palestine flag, a transgender flag, a Pride flag and a Black Lives Matter flag hang prominently from the blackboard, according to the photos obtained by PDE.

“L.A. Unified is aware of the specific classroom decorations,” LAUSD said in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation Thursday. “The specific posters will be taken down. We maintain and uphold student and staff confidentiality and therefore cannot comment on any of our students or employees.”

LAUSD said it “holds firm its policy that students and adults in both schools and offices should treat all persons equally and respectfully and refrain from the willful or negligent use of slurs against any person on the basis of race, language spoken, color, sex, religion, handicap, national origin, immigration status, age, sexual orientation, or political belief,” the statement said.

Another photo shows a poster that says “Fuck The Police” along with the statement, “Policing is a violent, anti-black, settler institution that originated as slave patrols. Their primary mandate is to protect property and to militarily enforce white supremacist capitalism. They are doing their jobs as they are trained and paid to do. You can’t fix what what isn’t broken. That’s why we fight for police and prison abolition.”

Another poster reads “Fuck Amerikkka. This Is Native Land,” along with the words “settler colonialism, genocide, slavery, imperialism, war on drugs, Jim Crow and prison labor.”

LAUSD is the second-largest school district in the nation, serving 630,000 students and about 30,000 teachers and “individual teachers decorate their rooms in a variety of ways,” the district told the DCNF.

LAUSD added that “teachers are expected to adhere to district policies and to be mindful of our mission to educate children in a classroom that reflects all our policies of inclusion and respectful treatment of individual rights.”

“Any displays that are determined to be overtly and objectively political or otherwise run afoul of our policies of inclusion and respectful treatment of others will be taken down and will be handled administratively,” the statement said. “Nevertheless, not every subjective belief that any one display is “political” can be accommodated in a district as large and diverse as L.A. Unified.”

Canberra will acquire nuclear submarines under a new military pact with the US and UK

A day after the US, UK, and Australia announced a new military pact to counter China, Australia’s defense minister said more US military aircraft and troops will deploy to the country.

Australian Defence Minister Peter Dutton said Canberra made the comments in Washington after a meeting with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Dutton said the US and Australia agreed to enhance “our force posture cooperation.”

“This will include greater air cooperation through rotational deployments of all types of US military aircraft to Australia,” he said.

When asked about more US troops deploying to Australia, Dutton said, “So I do have an aspiration to make sure that we can increase the numbers of troops through the rotations. “

He also hinted that Australia might host US medium-range missiles that were previously banned under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which the Trump administration withdrew from in 2019. Dutton signaled Australia is open to basing “different ordinances,” which he said was in “Australia’s best interest.”

With the Pentagon focused on China, Australia will play a significant role in Washington’s strategy in the Pacific. The nuclear-powered submarines Canberra gains from this new pact will give Australia more abilities to patrol sensitive areas like the South China Sea.

Australia is a member of the Quad, a security dialogue that also includes the US, India, and Japan, and is seen as a foundation for a possible anti-China NATO-style alliance in Asia. Pentagon OKs National Guard Troops for Pro-Trump Rally

The National Guard will deploy 100 troops near the U.S. Capitol on Saturday during a planned pro-Trump rally in support of rioters who stormed Congress in January.

The soldiers will form a physical security task force and be stationed at the D.C. Armory, less than two miles east of the rally site on the National Mall. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin signed off on the request for assistance by the U.S. Capitol Police on Friday.

Capitol Police said it wanted backup "should the need arise" during the Justice for J6 event. Its security force was badly overwhelmed Jan. 6 by hundreds of protesters who marched from a speech by then-President Donald Trump to Capitol Hill, where they broke into the building and congressional chambers in an attempt to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election.

More than 600 have been criminally charged, and four police officers on duty that day have since committed suicide.

"Should the Capitol Police require assistance, they will first utilize local, state, and federal law enforcement capabilities before requesting the deployment of the physical security task force," according to the Pentagon statement released Friday.

The task force may be used only to protect the Capitol building and the surrounding congressional office buildings by securing entry points and verifying credentials required to enter the buildings, the Pentagon said.

The Saturday rally is billed as an opportunity for attendees to show solidarity with the people arrested by federal officials for their actions during the Jan. 6 riot.

The event is being organized by "Look Ahead America," a group run by onetime Trump campaign staffer Matt Braynard. Although the group was started as a tax-exempt organization, it lost its 501(c)(3) status last year after failing to file required tax forms.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a warning of potential violence ahead of the rally, according to CNN. However, experts said attendance may lag based on early data.

Kristofer Goldsmith, who runs a company that tracks online disinformation and extremist groups, said it will not come anywhere close to matching Jan. 6, although there's always a threat of a lone actor creating disruption or violence.

In online chat groups, many organizations involved in the earlier riot see the planned rally as a likely "honeypot," meaning an event designed by law enforcement to draw them out for identification or arrest.

Trump told the conservative publication The Federalist that he thinks the event is "a setup." "If people don't show up, they'll say, 'Oh, it's a lack of spirit.' And if people do show up, they'll be harassed," he told Federalist writer and co-founder Sean Davis.

FDA Fetal Organ Purchases Violated Federal Law, Experts Say

The FDA shopped from a menu of aborted fetus organs to insert into lab mice as part of taxpayer-funded experiments, according to government records—a practice that watchdogs said may violate federal law.

From 2012 to 2018, Advanced Bioscience Resources, a nonprofit fetal tissue supplier, charged the FDA $340 per aborted fetus liver and $515 per intact skull. The FDA originally redacted these price listings, but a judge later unsealed the documents containing them, which were made public Tuesday by Judicial Watch. Federal law bans any institution from profiting off the sale of aborted fetuses. Meredith Di Liberto, the lead attorney in the lawsuit to obtain the government records, said the unredacted documents reveal a clear line of business between the FDA and a leading fetal tissue provider.

"I don’t know how you get around that not being a violation of federal law," Di Liberto told the Washington Free Beacon. "Why are they charging per organ? What work is involved that requires you to charge a separate cost for a thymus and a liver?"

The FDA study established human immune systems in mice with aborted fetus organs to test the effectiveness of pre-approved drugs. Scientists made specific requests to the supplier to keep the harvested organs "fresh" and "shipped on wet ice." The agency defended this research saying such organs were procured when research "couldn’t be feasibly achieved through another means."

"This work has led to a better understanding of a number of conditions and diseases that affect millions of Americans," the agency said in a statement.

The spokesperson did not elaborate on the specific treatments advanced through the research.

The ABR did not respond to a request for comment.

Abortion providers often charge fetal tissue providers the labor cost for harvesting the organs from an aborted fetus, but David Prentice, a professor of molecular genetics at the Catholic University of America, said the listed prices of fetal organs revealed in the contract are "ludicrous."

"Basically you’re trafficking baby body parts using our taxpayer funds, and it’s being done at our federal agencies," Prentice told the Free Beacon. "I think it’s an open question if they’re making a profit off of this tissue, and that obviously borders on the illegal."

The DOJ began an investigation into ABR in 2017 after undercover videos from the Center for Medical Progress showed Planned Parenthood employees negotiating prices and methods of harvesting organs from aborted fetuses. The DOJ declined to comment on the investigation.

Two California medical companies were ordered to permanently close all business operations in a $7.8 million settlement in 2017 after a local district attorney found they were "viewing body parts as a commodity and illegally selling fetal tissues for valuable consideration." David Daleiden, the founder of the Center for Medical Progress, said ABR should be shut down too for similar illegal behavior revealed in its contracts with the FDA.

"The federal court has found probable cause that ABR illegally trafficked baby body parts based on the records publicly available—it's time for these cases to be filed now and for the human trafficking of aborted infants to stop," Daleiden told the Free Beacon.

The Trump administration ended the FDA's partnership with ABR in 2018. The administration stopped government scientists from conducting experiments on fetal organs and established an ethics committee to review all funding requests for fetal research. The Biden administration reestablished this research and dissolved the ethics committee in April, which Prentice said leaves reason to believe the FDA and other federal agencies have resumed purchasing fetal organs.

Grant Stinchfield and John Solomon Report Trump Declassified Documents January 19th and White House Counsel Withheld Them

Last night, following the indictment release of Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann, Newsmax’ Grant Stinchfield made a strong accusation against former White House counsel Pat Cipollone. The claim is that in the final days of the Trump Presidency, the President declassified all of the pertinent documents related to DOJ and FBI misconduct surrounding the false Trump-Russia collusion case.

According to Stinchfield, speaking of ‘high level’ Trump administration sources, thousands of documents were declassified with instructions to release them to the public and also provide them to journalist John Solomon. The public release never took place; and Stinchfield as well as other Trump allies blame Pat Cipollone for withholding them. After explaining what his sources said took place, John Solomon joined as a guest to confirm the basic outline as presented. WATCH:

Right off the bat, something about this doesn’t pass my sniff test. That is not to say that events, as described, are not accurate; but something about the presentation doesn’t seem right.

FIRST – If John Solomon has known about this for nine months; and if Solomon has a partial list of those documents; and if Solomon is of the same frustrated mindset as outlined….. then why didn’t John Solomon ever write about the issue before?

SECOND – I am not excusing White House counsel Pat Cippolone, not even close; however, I think there is some context being ignored in the way Stinchfield and Solomon are framing this. Cippolone’s position as White House counsel is not to represent Donald Trump, his job is to represent the Office of The President. The White House counsel is a legal officer of the executive branch as an institution, not the president as a person/individual. Here is where the missing context and issue surfaces….

When Bill Barr appointed John Durham, officially appointed John Durham (October 19, 2020) as a special counsel, essentially what Bill Barr did was put the proverbial investigative shield over all material evidence that falls under the definition of the investigation Durham was charged to conduct.

Just like Robert Mueller’s appointment made him the controlling authority over everything related to Trump-Russia; which I might add was done with specific and purposeful intent; that made the Mueller special counsel the arbiter of anything that would ever be released to the public. That controlling authority is exactly how Mueller, Weissmann and crew kept a lid on anything that would be detrimental to the political narrative they were attempting to assemble (May 2017 through April 2019).

This process is one that we see used often in order to control and/or coverup wrongdoing. The material evidence, or any investigative discussion therein, becomes hidden under the cover of “an ongoing investigation“, which blocks the release and puts the control of all evidence into the hands of the investigators.

Understandably, our most familiar reference points are often when this “subject of an ongoing investigation” justification is used with malicious and corrupt intent to keep things hidden from the public. That corrupt reference is a stark and frustrating reality. However, there are valid reasons why material evidence is kept in the control of the investigators until they determine it is no longer useful; this is also true.

Back to Cippolone. With John Durham appointed as the special counsel with control over all evidence subject to the purpose of his investigation, well, right there is a valid reason why the counsel for the Office of the Presidency could not just release it. Cippolone would have to give it to John Durham because it was materially relevant to his ongoing investigation. The declassified material would have to go through John Durham, gain his approval that investigative value is exhausted (ie. it is no longer needed), and then the material can be released.

Through the prism of that approach, Pat Cippolone not making the material public (giving it to special counsel John Durham) would be following the appropriate step.

Chantix Recall 2021: Pfizer Expands Recall For Stop Smoking Medication Over Cancer Fears

Pfizer has expanded the recall of its Chantix smoking cessation medication to include all lots of 0.5 mg and 1 mg tablets due to a possible cancer-causing ingredient that may be present above the acceptable intake limit set by the Food and Drug Administration.

The Chantix medication may have the presence of N-nitroso-varenicline in higher-than-acceptable FDA interim intake levels, which has the potential for cancer risks with long-term ingestion.

Pfizer said there is no immediate risk to patients taking the medication, and the benefits of taking the medication outweigh the potential for causing cancer from the drug.

N-nitroso-varenicline or nitrosamines are commonly found in water and foods as well as cured and grilled meats, dairy products, and vegetables. At high levels and over long periods of time, they can cause cancer.

Chantix, which is used to help people quit smoking, is intended for short-term use.

The recalled medication was distributed nationwide in the U.S., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico from May 2019 to September 2021. The recall applies to all NDC, lot numbers, and expiration dates listed here.

Individuals that are currently taking the recalled Chantix should consult with their healthcare provider about an alternative treatment option. They should also contact Stericycle at 1-888-276-6166, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET for instructions on how to return the product and receive a reimbursement for the cost of the unused medication.

Pfizer said in a statement about the recall, “Pfizer places the utmost emphasis on patient safety and product quality at every step in the manufacturing and supply chain process.”

The drugmaker said it has not received any reports of adverse events related to the recall.

Pfizer initially recalled the stop-smoking medication on July 16 and expanded the recall on Aug. 16.
