Yet another everyday example of - The more "big box", "big brand", mass media, ETC. push something, the faster we need to run away - or at least look closer with all the info at fingertips:

People keep gifting those notorious rip-off "Vanilla" visa gift cards because these things are at check-out counters at all of the crap chain grocery stores/walmart/pharmacies, etc., (in U.S. and abroad). How much of a cut DO these crap conglomerate chains rake in, thanks to ignorant/lazy consumers who will NOT detox from evil conglomerates and "convenience"? Someone asked, "If they're so bad, then how can the stores sell them?" Back to Square One, because nobody will look and see for themselves unless it's posted on FAKEBOOK or on the tv "newz".

Shocked it's not a chyna bank, but Communist justin Castro troodow's turf is close:

The card issuers: Peoples Trust Company operating as Peoples Group, is a Canadian financial services company based in Vancouver, B.C. Peoples Group operates as a trust company and also maintains a chartered bank subsidiary, Peoples Bank of Canada. It is a subsidiary of the Alberta-based holding company Triple Five Group  (Wikipedia)

Founded 1965 as Germez Developments * Founder Jacob Ghermezian * Area served: Worldwide

Owner: Ghermezian family

…the Iranian-Canadian Jewish Ghermezian family, remains the owners and operators of the company today. …brothers' children have begun to take leadership roles in the company, including CEO Don Ghermezian and Braze founder Mark Ghermezian. The Ghermezian family originates from Iran, where they dealt in rugs for several generations… Sometime before World War II, the family moved to Tehran.

Jacob Ghermezian (1902–2000) … became one of the wealthiest businessmen in the country, and during 1943, he hosted U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt, U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Soviet leader Joseph Stalin in his apartment during the critical Tehran Conference, where the three world leaders discussed the final stages of World War II… In the early 1950s, Jacob moved his family to Montreal … By the mid 1960s, the business included 16 stores across North America, and was the largest importer of oriental rugs to the United States.

Triple Five Group is a conglomerate based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which specializes in shopping centres… banks…The company owns and operates two of North America's largest malls, the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta and the Mall of America in Minnesota… The company also owns the American Dream, which opened at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey on October 25, 2019.

On April 29, 2011, Triple Five took ownership of the unfinished Meadowlands Xanadu mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which had been under construction since 2004… The company has pledged 49% of its West Edmonton Mall and Mall of America to finance this project. As with many of Triple Five's projects, the company has requested significant public funding to build American Dream Meadowlands, and has received hundreds of millions of dollars from the state of New Jersey to finish the project. The mall opened on October 25, 2019.

UniParty doing UniParty crap, as usual:

GOP lawmakers’ curious support for Mall of America’s owners, the Canadian Ghermezians

Daudt pushing Bloomington to give Mall of America a loan; city says nah JULY 16, 2020

The party known for fighting slavery… is now the party of Orange Julius and Bath & Body Works.

That’d be the Republican Party, whose legislative leaders in Minnesota have made a priority of saving the Mall of America and its dodgy finances.  The Mall has not paid its property taxes for the first half of 2020, totaling more than $16 million.  But the Mall’s financial problems are much deeper than all that.

As Bloomberg reported recently, mall owner Triple Five — owned by the Canadian Ghermezian family — borrowed billions to complete a mall project in New Jersey, using the West Edmonton Mall and Mall of America as collateral on $1.7 billion in construction loans… https://minnesotareformer.com/2020/07/16/gop-lawmakers-curious-support-for-the-canadien-ghermezians-owners-of-mall-of-america/

As with everything else, could print out all the proofs imaginable - with video or illustratons! and people will still resent you for not sharing same enthusiasm for their precious addictions (big box/big brand shopping, convenience, TV, etc., ETC.)
