Yes, I think "they" need us.
However, I don't think the wicked need to continue to survive in that manner, treating people like a commodity to harvest.
Anyone who repents and turns to God through Jesus is forgiven of their sins and saved.
Those who are too proud to humble themselves will suffer forever. It is, however, the consequence of their choice.
"They" do need us, because the life from God that is in us, is necessary for "them" I think. However, they parasitize us because they have lost their connection to God. At least this is what I think. I realize my understanding is pretty limited, but on so many levels it is obvious to me that without many decent ordinary people the DS traffickers and such could not function. They need a constant supply of victims. I wonder if the depopulation event is really about getting rid of us or actually "them" needing the power human sacrifice apparently gives them. Plus, they need a small enough "herd" that they feel they can manage, maybe. Our freedom and our understanding that we are free means their season of control over us is ending.
