Garden variety grasshoppers seem be a bit of a scourge this year.
In this garden, they are simply taken out with an ordinary BB air thingy once spotted for what they are, and fed to the garden spiders as a reward for their diligence. The spider's swift action in securing it's next meal is remarkable.
The grasshopper is only opportunistic, while the spider does need to plot a bit differently, and from time to time needs to be rewarded for the web that was spun.
The smaller grasshoppers are captured by net, and then subsequently fed to the appropriate prey, unless they were taken by the BB thingy and are then left to feed the soil.
