Facebook Chief Technology Officer Resigns

Facebook Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroepfer announced on Wednesday that he would resign from his role.

Schroepfer has moved to the company’s part-time role and will replace Andrew “Boz” Bosworth, who is now head of Facebook’s hardware division, in 2022.

“This is a difficult decision given how much I love Facebook and how excited we are about the future we are building with,” Schroepfer wrote in his Facebook profile. “This role change allows family and personal philanthropy while maintaining deep ties with companies engaged in key initiatives such as hiring and training technicians and promoting AI investment in key technologies such as PyTorch. You can spend more time on the activity. “”

The change in leadership comes after last week’s series of reports by The Wall Street Journal, which revealed that Facebook is either ignoring or failing to address many of the issues that affect users across its services. This includes how Instagram affects the mental health of teenage girls and how Facebook can be abused by Mexican drug cartels to recruit hitmen.
