Algeria's interim president dies aged 80

Algeria's former interim president Abdelkader Bensalah, who ruled the country during an unprecedented political crisis in 2019, died today aged 80, Reuters reported the presidency saying.

Bensalah was named interim president after President Abdelaziz Bouteflika stepped down in April 2019 following mass street protests to reject his plan to seek a fifth term, and demand political and economic reforms.

Protesters were opposed to figures like Bensalah, a close associate of Bouteflika and his inner circle who dominated Algeria for decades.

Bouteflika, who ruled the North African country for two decades, himself died on Friday aged 84.

Protests continued after the resignation of Bouteflika despite the imprisonment of several senior officials for involvement in corruption cases during the Bouteflika era.

Bensalah, also head of the upper house of parliament for several years, remained in office until the election of the current president, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in December 2019.

Fauci Corruption Update

“We received many emails showing initially in 2020 that Fauci and his colleagues were very much concerned about whether their funding was behind the Wuhan Institute and whether their funding somehow tied to the emergence of the virus.”

The Biden administration’s proposed vaccine mandate, coupled with new revelations tying the NIH to gain-of-function research in China, has many Americans – including Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton – raising concerns about Dr. Fauci’s tenure and what he may have known about the COVID-19 crisis. In fact, as newly released documents from the NIH reveal, the Federal Government provided financial support for “gain-of-function research of concern,” at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, contradicting Fauci’s recent denial of any NIH-funded gain-of-function studies at the Chinese institute. An area of medical research which deliberately enhances pathogenic material in order to study its effects, gain-of-function research has been criticized for posing unacceptable risks to public health.

Remarking on the newly obtained records from the NIH, Fitton notes that “he [Fauci] has proven to be a dissembler.” In discussing Judicial Watch’s findings, Fitton remarks that “we [Judicial Watch] received many emails showing initially in 2020 that Fauci and his colleagues were very much concerned about whether their funding was behind the Wuhan Institute and whether their funding somehow tied to the emergence of the virus.” As Fitton continues, “the specific study that Fauci’s agency had funded through the EcoHealth Alliance was a gain of function research study on bat coronaviruses.”

Given these revelations, Fitton calls for a full investigation of Dr. Fauci, stating that “he should not only be subject to a Department of Justice investigation but to an Inspector General investigation. … In the least he should be pulled back from being the lead for the administration.” Concluding, Fitton states that “if the administration is concerned about having a persuasive public health voice, I would suggest they find someone that half the country doesn’t think is engaged in outrageous ethical misconduct.”

If you’re concerned about the lack of transparency in the Federal Government’s response to COVID-19, support Judicial Watch today!

Schumer calls for an end to deportation, calling it “hateful and xenophobic”

Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (R-NY) got on the Senate floor Tuesday to call an end to migrant deportations. According to him, the expulsion of anyone at the border is “hateful and xenophobic.”

“So I urge President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas to immediately put a stop to these expulsions and to end this Title 42 policy at our southern border,” Schumer said. “We cannot continue these hateful and xenophobic Trump policies that disregard our refugee laws.”

Then, Schumer attended the We Are Home rally just outside the capitol. There more advocates for undocumented migrants gathered.

However, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has already claimed that he can do little to change Title 42. To hear him tell it, not even the President of the United States can change it. Title 42 is actually a public health order from the Center For Disease Control and Prevention. It remains in place “to protect not only the American people but the migrants themselves,” Mayorkas said back in May. Because it is “tied to data,” Mayorkas said it’s a matter of public health standards that it will be lifted, not an executive decision.

Meanwhile, the Del Rio International Bridge in Texas hosted over 16,000 migrants this past week alone. August saw over 208,000 cross the southern border.

Bill Gates and UNICEF aligned with terrorist Taliban involving U.S. taxpayer dollars

The CIA is well-known for getting in bed with terrorists and tyrannical regimes if those particular governments align with U.S. national security and foreign policy interests at the time.

Those scenarios have come back to bite us in the past, and in a big way.

Once upon a time, America was aligned with the late, not-so-great Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein when he was at war with Iran in the 1980s; eventually, we had to go to war against Saddam Hussein after he invaded an ally.

Around the same time, our government was aligned with a Middle East militant named Osama bin Laden — yes, that Osama bin Laden — when he was fighting the Soviet Union’s forces in Afghanistan. Within a decade we were at war with bin Laden and his al Qaeda terrorist group after they attacked and destroyed the then-twin World Trade Center towers and struck the Pentagon.

After 20 years we finally left Afghanistan, but now it appears as though American tax dollars will be going to support the terrorist regime that took over the country again after we deposed it: The Taliban.

And for good measure, one of our country’s richest people, Bill Gates, is also getting in on the action, because you can’t have too many Americans funding terrorists, apparently.

161,848 people have died after having a Covid-19 vaccine during the first 6 months of 2021 in England according to official data

Data published by the Office for National Statistics reveals that 70% of deaths due to all causes excluding Covid-19 during the first 6 months of 2021 were among people who had received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The data was published in a report from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) analysing Covid-19 deaths by vaccination status between January 2nd 2021 and July 2nd 2021. Table 1 of the report shows that there were 51,281 deaths involving Covid-19, and 214,701 deaths not involving Covid-19 that occurred during this time frame.

The ONS were attempting to shows how well the Covid-19 vaccines are working through grouping deaths involving Covid-19 by vaccination status.

However, they failed to mention that the majority of deaths involving Covid-19 occurred during January 2021 when the mass majority of the population had not received a Covid-19 vaccine, meaning the majority of Covid-19 deaths were of course among the unvaccinated population.

Stop Le Steal: France’s Macron is Quietly Changing Election Dates and Pushing Mail-In Voting to Hold onto Power.

France’s summer was marred by the rollout of a national vaccine passport and the ensuing protests which continue to take place every Saturday across the country. In the midst of this social tension, a politically significant event was given little note.

In July, the French Interior Ministry – responsible for organizing national elections – presented the official dates for the upcoming and much anticipated 2022 Presidential election. While every French Presidential election runoff has occurred in early May since 1974, the government, with the approval of the nation’s council of Ministers, opted to advance the dates of the election to April 10th for the first round and April 24th for the runoff vote.

This change is significant because it conflicts with national public holidays.

French families typically align their vacations with the public school holidays. In fact, employers frequently require their employees to take their vacations during these breaks as a way of managing workflow.

School holiday dates are staggered depending on the different administrative regions of the country to avoid overcrowding of the domestic transportation system, and French workers often make use of their time off by traveling outside their home town to visit family and friends. During holiday seasons, certain regions experience an outflow of residents.

As a consequence, if a vote is scheduled during one of these periods, turnout is lower in regions where employees are on holiday because there is no early voting in France.

By scheduling the runoff election in early May when the workforce isn’t on break, the government was able to avoid conflicts with national holidays. Alternatively, when the dates did create a conflict, the government selected weeks when all regions’ vacations overlapped so as not to create regional discrepancies. This Presidential election will be different however because only a third of the country will be on holiday at the time of the vote. It’s the makeup of the regions which are on break during the runoff that gives rise to concern among the French opposition.

On April 24th 2022, the date of the runoff election, the northern region of France called “Hauts-de-France” and the southeastern region of “Provence-Alpes-Côte D’Azur” will be on holiday. Significantly, these are the two most unfavorable regions for the incumbent President Macron.

On the one hand, the north of France is very blue-collar, a consequence of the dying heavy industry and mining sectors of the country. The electorate is very sympathetic to the populist political platforms advocated for by Marine Le Pen as well as the national left-wing opposition to Macron. The southeast on the other hand is a conservative bastion and favors the traditional right wing parties and Marine Le Pen over the incumbent President.

IMF report suggests credit scores could soon be based on web browsing history

Dystopian future.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has published the results of research conducted into how lenders are likely to be doing their business in the future, and what new information and personal data these companies plan to start asking from borrowers in order to determine their credit score.

The biggest takeaway is the seemingly inevitable shift from merely accessing credit information to also incorporating people’s online behavior into the process of deciding whether to lend them money necessary, for example, to buy a house.

Compared to the way the system now works in most countries – these changes, which are expected to be coming soon, look fairly invasive privacy-wise, and with no “vision” of proper safeguards. Banks and others will go as far as to access personal browsing and shopping history. This would be done by allowing automated systems, powered by algorithms, to harvest the data and turn it into credit reports.

From the report:

“The use of non-financial data will have large effects on the provision of financial services. Traditionally, banks rely on the analysis of customer financial information from payment flows and accounting records. The rise of the internet permits the use of new types of nonfinancial customer data, such as browsing histories and online shopping behavior of individuals, or customer ratings for online vendors.”

Currently, those hoping to take out a loan can expect to have their repayment and credit history length, as well as total debt checked, but going forward, the IMF study suggests, this will be expanded to include what’s known as people’s digital footprint – either collected from data already publicly available, or that obtained by credit bureaus.

The stated goal is to improve “loan default predictions” – and the upcoming trend is sold as a way to give access to money to people who have previously been unable to use loans because their status is “unscorable.” Also known as “credit invisibles,” these are mostly low-income minorities and immigrants, and having access to their personal habits and behavior as exhibited on the internet is supposed to help banks and other lenders “profile” them precisely enough to determine if they should be given a loan.

On the other hand, citizens who are “scorable” but whose score is low might suffer in the new system now in the making, as their online activity could persuade lenders to cut them off from access to money.

Although the move in this direction looks inevitable, some key answers are missing: what data scraped from the internet will be used to determine someone’s credit rating, and how it will be secured.

IMF’s post warns, however, to expect an “efficiency-privacy trade-off.”

Biden Admin Suspends Border Agents on Horseback Who Were Doing Their Job — Preventing Illegal Aliens from Entering US

The Biden Administration suspended US horseback border patrol agents who were preventing illegal aliens from entering the US this week.

Democrats were outraged with the photos and video that showed exactly what they are trained to do — prevent illegals from entering the United States.

Democrats are not at all concerned with the open US border with Mexico.

Over 200,000 illegals have flooded into the US the past two months as Joe Biden continues to allow unlimited illegal immigration into the country.

The fake news mainstream media has mostly ignored this crisis.

USA Today reported:

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas vowed a swift investigation into the treatment of Haitian migrants on the Texas border by agents on horseback, telling a House panel that the inquiry would be completed within days.

Mayorkas told the House Homeland Security Committee that an undisclosed number of agents had been placed on administrative duty as investigators examine confrontations in which some mounted agents appeared to use their reins as whips against migrants who have been surging into Del Rio, Texas.

“I want to assure you that we are addressing this with tremendous speed and tremendous force,” Mayorkas said. “The facts will drive the action we take.”

“It will be completed in days – not weeks,” he added.

Images of the mounted agents driving migrants back across the Rio Grande prompted national condemnation.

$5.9 Million Ransomware Attack on Farming Co-op May Cause Food Shortage

Iowa-based provider of agriculture services NEW Cooperative Inc. has been hit by a ransomware attack, forcing it to take its systems offline. The BlackMatter group that is behind the attack has put forth a $5.9 million ransom demand. The farming cooperative is seen stating the attack could significantly impact the public supply of grain, pork, and chicken if it cannot bring its systems back online.

BlackMatter says it doesn’t hit “critical infrastructure”

Ransomware group BlackMatter has hit NEW Cooperative and is demanding $5.9 million to provide a decryptor, according to screenshots shared online by threat intel analysts.

“Your website says you do not attack critical infrastructure. We are critical infrastructure… intertwined with the food supply chain in the US. If we are not able to recover very shortly, there is going to be very very public disruption to the grain, pork, and chicken supply chain,” a NEW Cooperative representative appears to be telling BlackMatter during a private negotiation chat.

The farming organization says its software powers about 40 percent of grain production and feed schedules of 11 million farm animals. And, as such, US federal government regulators like CISA may soon step in should the cooperative’s systems not come back online soon.

BlackMatter responded that it disagreed with the farming organization falling within the “critical infrastructure” category.

A note seen by Ars on BlackMatter’s Tor leak site states the group does not attack hospitals, oil and gas companies, non-profit and government organizations, and those in the defense sector. Should the group accidentally encrypt computers belonging to one of these organizations, victims can ask for a free decryptor. But, the list of “critical infrastructure facilities” is limited to power generation plants and water treatment facilities, according to BlackMatter’s criteria.

George Christensen stands by comments calling Melbourne police officers 'thugs'

Federal government backbencher George Christensen is refusing to apologise for calling for Victoria Police officers to be arrested, despite condemnation from within his own party.

Key points:

The MP called police officers thugs for what he said was videos of them using excessive force

The comments drew condemnation from within his party, including former leader Michael McCormack

Mr Christensen says he will not apologise for the comments

The Liberal National Party Member for Dawson used social media to call for the arrests, alleging officers used "excessive force" on protesters in Melbourne over the weekend.

He said those "thugs should be arrested", referring to the officers.

Former Nationals leader Michael McCormack condemned Mr Christensen's comments.

"George not only needs to desist from these comments, but I think some of the things he's said he probably needs to apologise for," Mr McCormack said.

"No, he doesn't probably need to, he definitely needs to.

"Police don't need this sort of social media platform used against them, they need to be supported."

The former Nationals leader and deputy prime minister criticised his successor, Barnaby Joyce, for not publicly rebuking Mr Christensen.

"[Barnaby Joyce] can't just hide under or behind the excuse that you can't control George or that you can't poke the bear," Mr McCormack said.

"If the leader can't, or won't, then I will and I have.

"George does need to be brought into line."

'Inciting mob violence'

Mr Christensen's comments were also condemned by Labor's treasury spokesman, Jim Chalmers.

"If only [the Mackay region] had a local member as interested in creating jobs and opportunities for local people as he's been interested in inciting mob violence," Mr Chalmers said.

"We have here in this region a federal member of parliament, when he's here, more focused on encouraging extremist mob violence than creating jobs and opportunities for young people in this part of Queensland."

Australian police attempt to keep reporters from covering Covid-19 protests, back off after news outlet threatens legal challenge

Melbourne police partially backed off an order to keep news helicopters out of the sky over anti-lockdown protests after media pushed back with a legal challenge. Police said protesters were tracking cops’ movements via newsfeeds.

Police in Victoria initially issued a blanket order to keep local news helicopters out of the sky over the Melbourne city center known as the CBD, according to 7 News Melbourne, which reported that it was filing a legal challenge to the rule on Wednesday along with fellow Melbourne broadcaster Channel 9.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority declared the airspace above Melbourne city center a ‘no-fly zone’ on Wednesday afternoon, encompassing three nautical miles from the district, before police relented after a wave of protest from the news media.

Calling the filming ban “an extraordinary new tactic from police,” the outlet explained the order was initially meant to keep news helicopters out of the sky until Monday but that “after complaints from media,” the police had partially rescinded the order. News outlets can still film the protests, the new rule says, but cannot broadcast the footage without an hour’s delay.

To justify the “unprecedented” ban on filming the massive, violent clashes between cops and protesters near the city center, police claimed protesters were watching footage from the news helicopters to get a clue as to where the cops were moving next. However, they presented no evidence to back up this claim, nor did they prove that protesters weren’t using more typical reconnaissance means, such as encrypted messaging apps or even phone calls, to track the movement of the authorities.

“A very important line has been crossed here. Victoria Police are censoring the broadcast media. This is the definition of police state behavior,” Director of Policy at the Institute of Public Affairs Gideon Rozier told Australian broadcaster ABC.
