Your Lilith drop sent me on a mission, reading through the 5 different bible translations I have in my possession. I was hoping to find more comments and footnotes on Lilith. Of the 5, only the Jerusalem bible has Lilith instead of screech owl. Odd that there would even be a question of interpretation. Lilith was a hag, right? Hags just scream and howl, which sounds like screeching to a man. In the context of that chapter, of referring to unlikable animals as the only things to be found in that scorched land (what's left after God's vengeance against Zion/Babylon), perhaps creative license was used to say Lilith, with the reader understanding the inference of unpleasant/evil woman/beast.
