>THE BAN HITS THE FAN | THE SCHOOL MASK MANDATE BAN was expected to impact different educators in different ways and some expected there would be dissent to wearing masks. Well that has become true at Beaumont ISD. We’re told an educator has been handed a FORMAL REPRIMAND that will go on the permanent record. Why? Sources close to the situation say the teacher RESPECTFULLY declined to wear a face covering. BISD schools have signs referencing how masks are "highly recommended." It's the first infraction EVER by the educator who has been in the schools for SEVERAL years.
>Thing is, the Governor has an order banning any school MANDATES. Districts like BISD can ask educators to wear masks voluntarily but can they reprimand someone if they don’t??? Especially since signs at schools don’t call it a requirement? We’ve reached out to the educator and Beaumont ISD but both have declined to comment.
