My overview is
'They' have been cut off somehow from their power source, but still are forced to resort to planned moves that no longer work and instant expose them and humiliate them.
Moves like killing navy seals in deliberate ambushes use to generate a demoralizing and a lethargy in the population and they would feed on it then heap scorn and blame on us, but now it only proves them evil and steels the resolve of people against them.
