Harry & Meghan, Lizzo and more raise voices for vaccine equity at Global Citizen Live

โ€œGet up, stand upโ€ โ€“ for each other and for global vaccine equity.

That was the message delivered Saturday by celebrities, political leaders and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during Global Citizen Live festivities on the Great Lawn on Central Park.

The event was the Big Appleโ€™s contribution to the international music festival to raise awareness for humanitarian causes, including the effort to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to poverty-stricken nations around the world.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the Central Park show, joining UN leaders to amplify the concertโ€™s call for G7 and EU nations to share at least 1 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses with needy nations.

The royal couple entered the show early, dressed casually in black with matching black masks, making a wardrobe change after appearing at the UN earlier in the day.

Woman identified & in custody after reportedly throwing her own children from Cross Lake bridge, resulting in 1 dead, 1 injured

Shreveport Police have identified Ureka Black, as the woman who reportedly threw her own children from Cross Lake bridge.

A spokesperson with the Shreveport Police Department says they got the first call just before 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 about a child in the water near the bridge. Marine patrol officers responded and found an infant male dead in the water.

Officers then began searching the lake and were able to rescue a 5-year-old boy, who was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Since then, the childโ€™s injuries have been downgraded to non-life-threatening and he is expected to recover.

Detectives responding to the hospital were able to talk with the child, who helped detectives identify Black as the mother of both children.

โ€œMy heart is just so broken with this event that has occurred today,โ€ said Substitute Chief for the Shreveport Police Department Wayne Smith.

Multiple agencies were initially searching for a third child believed to be in the water as well, however, detectives were able to confirm that child was never in the water and is safe.

Black was driving a grey Dodge Caravan with a Texas license plate and was taken into custody at the Texas state line by the Waskom Police Department, SPD says. Shreveport officials put out a BOLO (be on the lookout) for Blackโ€™s vehicle and a Waskom officer thought he spotted it at a rest stop. He turned around, pulled her over and took her into custody.

Detectives with SPD got warrants for Black, charging her with one count each of second-degree murder and attempted second degree murder. She is awaiting extradition back to Caddo Parish and no bond has been set.

Its primary component is the contrast between the solemn jester (Staล„czyk) and the lively ball going on in the background.

Staล„czyk is remembered as a man of great intelligence and a political philosopher gifted with formidable insight into Poland's current and future situation. He used his job to criticize and warn his contemporaries by the use of satire. His witty jokes often pertained to current political or court matters. Staล„czyk's remarks and jokes were preserved by numerous contemporary writers and historians, who praised him for fighting hypocrisy in the name of truth.

Taliban hang bodies of alleged kidnappers in Afghan city of Herat

The bodies were "hanged inside the city in order to be a life lesson for other kidnappers,โ€ the deputy governor of Herat said.

Their bodies were hung in the heart of the Afghan city of Herat in a grim sign that the Taliban is reinstating its hardline rule despite trying to project a more moderate image.

Mulwi Shir Ahmad Ammar, the city's deputy governor, told NBC News that the four men had kidnapped a local trader and his son on Saturday morning and had intended to take them out of the city, which sits around 500 miles west of the country's capital Kabul.

They were killed during an exchange of gunfire which had left one Taliban fighter wounded, he said, adding that their bodies were strung up "in order to be a life lesson for other kidnappers."

Authorities had set up roadblocks and checkpoints across the city to catch them, he said. NBC News was not able to independently verify his claims.
