>“Although we have sentinel spacecraft that can issue early warnings of CMEs providing at least 13 hours of lead time, our defenses against GIC are limited. Hence, we need to prepare the infrastructure for an eventual catastrophe to facilitate efficient disaster management,” Jyothi said.
>Well, we have 13 hours advance notice, it appears.
As I have said many times here before, the risk a massive solar CME is real especially during or following a solar minimum.
About ten years ago I read a theory about what sun spots are. They can be thought of as energy release zones of built up torsion tension that results from the gravitation strain put on the sun from our orbiting planets that rotate around it. Because the equator of the sun rotates faster than at the poles, the torsion tension from the rotating gravitational forces of the planets builds up during a solar minimum because the sun spots, which act like release values, are not present. Thus, during a solar minimum all this pent up energy eventually must be released in the form of a powerful CME. Moreover, the impact of such a CME if it were directed toward Earth would not be adequately shielded due to the weakened solar powered magnetic force field. As I recall, there were actually some ice core records discovered by climate scientists RE these super CME’s occurring toward the end of previous solar minimum cycles, but the news articles covering these discoveries have since been scrubbed from the net. I think the global elite are quite aware of the risks, which explains 1) why they have built underground bunkers (eg Denver airport, etc.) and 2) their urgency to implementing as much centralized top down control as possible before these events occur.
