Falun Gong Practitioners Gather Outside UN Building to Protest Against the CCP’s Crimes
NEW YORK—As world authorities gathered in Manhattan to participate in the 76th session of the United Nations (U.N.) General Assembly at its headquarters this week, a group of Falun Gong practitioners quietly meditated and held banners raising awareness about their persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual practice that includes meditation exercises and teachings based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. It grew in popularity during the 1990s, and 70 million to 100 million people were practicing in China by the end of the decade, according to official estimates at the time.
The CCP felt threatened by its popularity and launched a systematic elimination campaign in July 1999. Since then, millions of practitioners have been detained inside prisons, labor camps, and other facilities, with hundreds of thousands tortured while incarcerated, according to the Falun Dafa Information Center.
Jacek Krzywinski, one of the people protesting outside the U.N. building, said he wants to raise “awareness about what’s happening in China. Because they have … no voice over there, so we are over here. We are their voice over here in America.”
Krzywinski stated that he hopes the U.N. would do something about what is going on in China. He said, “they probably know what’s going on in China.”
Tom Tang, a Falun Gong practitioner who now lives in New York, told The Epoch Times that they have been outside the U.N. building this week to tell the people all over the world about the persecution. “We just want the U.N. to help to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. And help to stop the Chinese government [from doing] evil,” Tang said.
One of the evils Tang referenced was the CCP forcibly harvesting organs from detained Falun Gong practitioners, which was confirmed after an extensive review of available evidence by a people’s tribunal in 2019. The Chinese regime then uses the organs in its lucrative organ transplant industry.

Eftpos granted government accreditation as first private ID exchange operator==
Eftpos connectID can now facilitate online transactions requiring a digital identity from Australians.
Eftpos has become the first accredited non-government operator of a digital identity exchange under the federal government's Trusted Digital Identity Framework (TDIF).
By becoming an accredited operator, Eftpos connectID can now facilitate online transactions requiring a digital identity from Australians.
Eftpos sent connectID live in June as a fully-owned subsidiary of the organisation and as a standalone fintech company. It's been set up to act as "broker" between identity service providers and merchants or government agencies that require identity verification, such as proof of age, address details, or bank account information.
It has been designed to work within the federal government's Trusted Digital Identity Framework (TDIF) and the banking industry's TrustID framework.
Although the Australian government has its own digital identity solution with myGovID, Eftpos has previously said its solution could provide a "smoother, faster, and more secure onboarding experience, including for government services".
Eftpos has also assured that connectID does not store any identity data.
"A safe, thriving digital economy is the best way we can grow the Australian economy. A safe, thriving digital economy is not possible without digital identity – that is, a safe, secure, and convenient way for Australians to prove their identity online," Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business Stuart Robert said.
"Through accreditation, we make sure Australians and Australian businesses can have trust and confidence that their personal information is safe and secure.
"As an accredited provider, Eftpos has demonstrated that connectID is trustworthy, safe, and secure and has met strict usability and accessibility requirements. I congratulate Eftpos for being the first private identity exchange to be accredited under the TDIF."
Eftpos applied for accreditation in May. The federal government's myGovID was the first to be granted a TDIF accreditation, followed by Australia Post's Digital ID. Last month, OCR Labs became the first accredited non-government operator to provide digital identity services to the private sector.
"TDIF accreditation is a big step forward for Eftpos and industry to help bring the benefits of digital identity to more sectors of the economy. It is a significant and tangible milestone in the rollout of Australia's digital identity ecosystem and comes after months of rigorous assurance evaluations and privacy and security testing," Eftpos CEO Stephen Benton said.
Since last year, Eftpos has been piloting connectID with 20 "well-known" Australian brands, including Australia Post and Yoti.
According to Eftpos digital identity managing director Andrew Black, the company is looking to use connectID to help businesses address issues in areas such as commerce onboarding, recruitment, responsible gaming, anti-money laundering and identity verification.
The news follows Mastercard and the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) announcing plans to scope out how the former's digital identity service could enable Australians to digitally verify their age and identity.

Victoria records 705 new Covid-19 cases and one death as Dan Andrews announces new freedoms and 'extreme' plans to force all schoolkids to be vaccinated are leaked
Victoria records 705 new cases of coronavirus with one death on Monday
Dan Andrews announced new targets to enhanced freedoms with jab rates
Golf and tennis are back on the cards for Victorians as vaccinations increase
Leaked plans reveal the premier's plan to force every student to get vaccinated
Dan Andrews' plans to force all schoolkids to be vaccinated have been leaked as Victoria recorded 705 new cases of coronavirus and one death on Monday and a record number of people in intensive care.
Plans to deliver the jab to schoolkids were part of a push to accelerate vaccination rates and enable the easing of lockdown measures.
Some restrictions, including a return to golf and tennis, will ease slightly across the state on Wednesday, with Victoria expected to pass 80 per cent single dose vaccination coverage on Tuesday.
The next round of eased restrictions will focus on the return of Victorian students to onsite learning; earmarked for October 6.
Leaked planning documents from the Department of Education obtained by the Herald Sun have revealed the tough rules school children may expect next month.
All Victorian students aged over 12 could be required to have one dose of a vaccine 'to attend school by 2022' while those in Year 11 and 12 will need two.
Premier Daniel Andrews said while the changes were 'modest', the state was getting closer to the end of lockdown.
Residents of locked-down areas will be able to travel 15km from home, up from 10, while patron caps in regional venues will increase from 20 to 30.
There was also good news for the city of Geelong, which will be released from lockdown at midnight, despite the diagnosis of six new cases on Saturday. All those cases were linked to known outbreaks.
One of the considerations under the new policies for schools - which are not yet finalised or confirmed - is scrapping excursions, camps, assemblies and performances.

Aussie doctors reveal your next Covid-19 shot will go up your NOSE – and explain why a small number of vaccinated people still get infected
Scientists are working on a nasal spray vaccine for Covid-19
'You are 11 times more likely to die from Covid if you are unvaccinated'
The nose and mouth are the doorways to getting the virus
Getting vaccinated significantly reduces the risk of being infected
Two Australian university lecturers have revealed why a nasal spray could be the future of Covid-19 vaccinations.
Dr Mike Todorovic and Dr Matt Barton, senior lecturers and medical researchers at Griffith University in Queensland, used their YouTube channel to show where the technology to fight the coronavirus is headed.
'The doorway (to getting the virus) is your nose and mouth, this is why we wear a mask,' said Dr Barton.
'But if it was to get in, we would need to have a method of vaccine that would work at the respiratory level, so this would be a vaccine through a nasal spray, or something like that, which scientists are currently working on.'
A nasal spray could be used before, or shortly after, exposure to a virus, prompting the body to respond faster to protect patients and reduce community spread.

Germany's Social Democrats Win Election After Gaining 25.7% of Votes, Election Commission Reveals
The Sunday election marks a major turn of events for Germany, especially with the conservative block experiencing its worst results since the 1949 election.
Germany's Social Democrats (SPD) party won in the nation's federal election upon gaining 25.7% of the votes, results released by the electoral commission revealed early Monday.
The conservative Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union bloc came in second with approximately 24.1% of votes, with the Greens, who briefly led the polls early on, came in third with 14.8%.
Rounding out the top five, the Free Democratic Party came in with 11.5% of the votes, and the Alternative for Germany party is fifth with 10.3%.
The Left (DIE LiNKE) failed to make it past the 5% threshold.
In light of exit polls earlier indicating that the Social Democrats took the win, both the Greens and Free Democrats signaled that they would be willing to join a three-way alliance along with either of the two bigger rivals to form a government.
It could take weeks, if not months, to form a coalition in the nation.
The closely-watched election marks the end of an era for Germany and the European alliance as it now paves the exit for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose served in the post for the last 16 years. Merkel isn't expected to step down from the post until her successor is officially declared.
Earlier, CDU Secretary-General Paul Ziemiak relayed his disappointment over earlier exit polls, describing the election as a "neck and neck race."
