Like a lot of film productions like this, there was a book out the year before. I had no idea there was a movie coming, but my father did and made sure i read it first. For a boy at 13 or 14 years old, this stuff was absolutely fantastic… and undoubtedly very formative. He also had me reading Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, which in hind sight had far more positive effect to NOT be prejudicial, rather contrary to the opinions of SJW only a few years later.
