CMEs possibly impacting earth ~ 9:00UTC / 3:00pm EST Sept 30, 2021

Decaying sunspot AR2871 erupted on Sept 28th (0634 UT) prducing a slow C1-class solar flare.

The shock wave propelled a CME into space. Newly arriving coronagraph images from SOHO show a storm cloud emerging just inside the Earth strike-zone. After a series of near misses by recent CMEs, this CME might actually hit. Stay tuned for updates as more coronagraph data become available.
