Update 💥
Today we had a great showing at the Union meeting 400 plus with a very passionate, articulate, informed and somewhat frustrated membership.
The main issue being the vaccine mandate ordinance. There were many excellent speakers articulating a strong message about the vaccine mandate ordinance being an authoritarian government overreach, ignoring members constitutional rights and civil liberties.
Bullet points from today:
-The members are passionate and have resolve to stick this out.
-The science the city is following is bias and doesn’t include the VAERS reporting system of vaccine injuries.
-There is a lack of science and information that went into this mandate.
-The department doesn’t understand that this whole mandate is invalid based on the fact that this is still in Phase 3 trials and therefore you have to give the option to opt out along with all the other issues it violates.
-The interim medical director can’t substantiate the fact that the vaccine is the safest way to protect a person when he even stated the vaccine doesn’t keep one from getting or transmitting the virus.
-The City is not taking into consideration available therapeutics and or alternate treatments versus the vaccine.
-The City is not taking into consideration factual data regarding antibody protection.
-The LAFD acknowledged the misleading recent required portal notice regarding vaccine status reporting. Members report status directly to Human Resources and not LAFD Chief officers.
(We will be discussing with our legal team on this vaccine reporting status requirement.)
-We encouraged the Fire Chief to use his influence and realistic numbers (1500 unvaccinated members versus 500 members) when meeting with the EEOC.
It is still undecided what Chief Terrazas and the UFLAC Union board will end up negotiating with the Mayor, City Council or EEOC. Chief Terrazas was very gracious to attend and respectfully listened to the members positions and perspectives, we thank him for that.
UFLAC Union board definitely supports our movement.
Neither the Fire Chief or UFLAC Union board can confirm or deny the possibility of termination if not vaccinated per the Covid 19 vaccine mandate ordinance.
All parties seem to agree that is a situation both parties would like to see avoided.
F4F and UFLAC seem more than willing to meet the City (Council and Mayor) on middle ground and negotiate reasonable accommodations.
Middle ground for us looks like with screening, temperature checks for signs and symptoms and testing if the member is showing signs and symptoms.
We F4F are continuing with the lawsuit and a statement will be put out by F4F Attorney team and Kevin McBride tomorrow with much needed information on moving forward.
We are stronger in numbers and need all of your support. We need vaccinated and non-vaccinated to support this fight for freedom of choice and become plaintiffs. We have 574 members and growing signed up as plaintiffs, we need to keep up our momentum and get more on board. This is not about the vaccine mandate / ordinance only, this is about our freedoms and our future as natural free human beings with constitutional rights, civil liberties, freewill, consent and the right to work without the threat of harassment, intimidation or retaliation. Believe it or not this is a fight for against fascist ideology and authoritarianism while trying to maintain your right to body autonomy.
This is a fight that is taking place across the nation, we must stand our ground in Los Angeles and be a beacon of hope for other cities and counties.
If you have any questions or concerns one of the board members or batt stewards are always available to talk or text. Please reach out. Thank you all for the strong showing and participation at the meeting today.
Keep faith and maintain discipline.
F4F is truly a movement of hope.
Respectfully
F4F
