>The rest of my assets are 100% US cash atm.
I had most of my assets in cash until this spring when my fuel cost jumped 25% in one week. As that is my principle expense I felt I had had a fourth of my life savings wiped out. I'm well on my way to getting out of all but reserve cash.
I bought forested land with water, I bought mining claims with provable yields, remote but arable land with water rights, orchards, a solar plant for pumping water, two pre electronic diesel pickups, an older diesel tractor and implements, bicycles with spares, garden tools, seeds, fertilizer, a food processing building for drying, canning, juicing, cidering, butchering, lifetime supplies of salt, canning jar lids, matches, soap, detergent, toothbrushes, toothpaste, liquor, lifetime supplies of OTC meds, first aid supplies, camping equipment, fuel storage, tons of coal, multiple sets of ham radio's and walkie talkies (all stored in Faraday cans), rechargeable batteries (solar plant) for everything, spare (dry) car batteries, spare (dry) deep cycle batteries, tires, tubes, tire mounting equipment, multiple sets of cordless tools and DC chargers (solar plant), even electric chain saws. Working a deal on an electric UTV with all analog controls. Fencing, lots of fencing. Poles, posts, hog wire, chicken wire, barbed wire, phone wire. Extra oxy / acetylene tanks and welders, fabricating stocks of steel, aluminum, copper tubing, solder, welding rod, plywood, dimension lumber, wood miser saw mill, trailers for hauling logs to the mill site, Troy Bilt tiller modified to run on ethanol, an ancient Caterpillar tractor that runs on 3 different fuels, lifetime supplies of boots, socks, trousers, shirts, outerware, hats/caps/gloves and glasses. And some other stuff.
