But getting to the end of the book, and the ultimate antagonist turns out to be a pedophile. Usually preferring mid teens, he admits to fucking a ten year old girl "just to see what it was like" and gets caught on video.
He made the characters last name Klerke, and makes a point of differentiating from Clerk by emphasizing the K.
Seems like a self-confession.
Sold his soul for plot ideas. Probably very talented on his own, but the plot ideas cake from something not of this world, and at a cost.
