Mount Paektu, China
Yellowstone Caldera, U.S.
Hawaii, U.S.
Short version of the video:
1000 years ago (ish), Mt. Peatku erupted and spewed enough ash to cover an area the size of NYC in 500 feet of ash. Since then, it has been fairly quiet, altho earthquakes in the Mantle Transition Zone still do occur.
The Pacific Tectonic plant is pushing under China. As it does so, it draws/captures water in the MANTLE TRANSITION ZONE (MTZ is between Upper and Lower Mantles. SEE PIC), as the plate moves under the Upper mantle and/or the Lower Mantle.
Per the video, It should be noted that there ismore water in the MTZ than all the oceans combined. It is believed that this leaching of the water in the MTZ is POSSIBLY how fresh water is replenished around the world. (WATCH THE WATER)
As the plates continue to move downward, the trapped massive volumes of water react with the mantle, changing it's structure. The water has a tendancy to leach upward (for lack of a better term) and this increases the buoyancy of partially molten rock (100/km60Miles in size). Meaning that as the water rises, it raises the "plume of molten rock" with it, pushing the plume toward the surface. (Not a good thing)
It should also be noted that should the when an event (volcano such as this blows) it has the ability to affect the separation of continents and evolution on a larger scale.
Multiple volcanos such as this exist around the world: (SEE MAP)
The video did not go into examples of how long until the water pushes the plumes out into the open, for any of the volcano's listed on the map.
My takeaway :
-
Catastrophic- massive, life-ending event if one blows
-
Belly of the dragon will drip water?
Excellent video to watch. Very enlightening.
