Israel delays Covid Green Pass update after Health Ministry’s system crashes under massive traffic

Israel’s plan to reissue coronavirus Green Passes, making them available only to those with booster shots, has been delayed, after the ministry’s dedicated website failed to handle the traffic overload and crashed.

Under the new rules that came into force on Sunday, the Green Passes of all Israelis were to become void, with citizens being told to re-register on the system to maintain their access to public venues, including restaurants and gyms.

However, there was a catch: only those who had received their third, booster shot, or who’d had their second jab within the past six months, would have been eligible to renew, meaning between 1.5 and 1.7 million people would have lost their Green Pass privileges.

In early August, Israel became one of the first countries in the world to launch a booster campaign, and has already inoculated more than three million of its citizens with the third shot.

Many of those people rushed to the special website set up by the Health Ministry to get their new Green Passes, but they were met with a message saying the page was undergoing maintenance. The system worked for only a few hours early on Sunday morning before crashing due to the massive number of pass requests, local media reported.

After some time, the Health Ministry issued a statement saying the old Green Passes would remain valid “for the next few days.” It’s currently unclear when the system will be back online.

Even members of the Israeli government were affected, with Construction and Housing Minister Ze’ev Elkin blaming the Health Ministry for creating the “mess.”

“I didn’t download my new pass because the website doesn’t work,” Elkin complained to Israeli national public broadcaster Kan, adding that the switch should have been executed in a more “orderly manner.”

Not stopping at ‘provocative military activity,’ US demands China halt even ‘diplomatic & economic pressure’ towards Taiwan

In a threatening statement on Beijing’s “destabilizing” military moves that was published on Sunday, the US State Department warned China against even diplomatically and economically pressuring Taiwan in its own interests.

In the statement, United States spokesperson and former CIA intelligence officer Ned Price warned China that the US was “very concerned” by its “provocative military activity near Taiwan, which is destabilizing, risks miscalculations, and undermines regional peace and stability.”

“We urge Beijing to cease its military, diplomatic, and economic pressure and coercion against Taiwan,” Price wrote.

Claiming the US had “an abiding interest in peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” Price said it would “continue to assist Taiwan in maintaining a sufficient self-defense capability” and affirmed that its commitment to Taiwan was “rock solid.”

“We will continue to stand with friends and allies to advance our shared prosperity, security, and values, and deepen our ties with democratic Taiwan,” the statement concluded.

On Friday, Taiwan accused China of sending 18 J-16 jets, four Su-30 fighters, two nuclear-capable H-6 bombers, and an anti-submarine aircraft into its air defense zone on China’s National Day – the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

China does not recognize Taiwan’s autonomous rule and considers the island to be a part of the People’s Republic.

‘Most absolute of evils’: Investigation estimates up to 3,200 pedophile priests in French Catholic Church since 1950

Up to 3,200 Catholic priests have sexually abused children in France in recent history, the head of an independent inquiry has said, days before publishing a report on the scope of crimes against minors inside the church.

The independent commission led by former vice president of the Council of State Jean-Marc Sauve was set up by the French Catholic Church in 2018 to study sexual crimes against minors within its ranks. After going through church archives across the country and conducting interviews, the commission, known by its acronym CIASE, will deliver a 2,500-page report on Tuesday.

Sauve told AFP his team had uncovered between 2,900 and 3,200 pedophile priests and other church members who operated since 1950. He added that it was “a minimum estimate.”

The most terrible thing for me was to see the most absolute of evils – an attack on the physical and mental integrity of children – which is to say a work of death perpetrated by people whose mission was to bring life and salvation.

“Between the 1950s and the 1970s, the church was completely indifferent to the victims. They didn’t exist, the suffering of children was ignored,” Sauve told Le Journal du Dimanche on Saturday, adding that clerics were greatly interested in protecting the church and retaining offenders in the priesthood.

Europe 1 radio cited sources saying that the estimated number of potential victims mentioned in the report will be well over 100,000. This is 10 times higher than the previous estimate put forward by the commission in March.

The Catholic Church across the world has been rocked by numerous high-profile cases involving the sexual abuse of minors by priests in recent decades.

The Vatican toughened its laws against sex offenders in the clergy this year in response to a 2020 independent report finding that senior church officials had failed to act on reports of crimes against children in the past.

Narcotics Officers Arrested for Trafficking Enough Fentanyl to Kill 4 MILLION People

Columbus, OH — In case you’ve been completely in the dark for the last decade, you’ve likely noticed that the United States is currently in the midst of an opioid crisis. This crisis knows no demographic, no race, no gender, no age limit, and no occupation—it hits them all. Due to the government-imposed lockdowns coupled with the war on drugs leading to the uptake of fentanyl, 2020 marked the deadliest year in history for fatal drug overdoses.

Because the state enforces a drug war which outlaws far safer alternatives, fentanyl has grabbed a large portion of the illegal drug market and these synthetic opioids that are extremely dangerous are flooding the streets. This is leading to deadly overdoses and tempting those in law enforcement to cash in on the thriving black market.

Highlighting the utter failure of the state’s war on drugs is the fact tat two Columbus police officers were arrested this week for participating in a massive fentanyl ring in which they were distributing 8 kilograms of the drug. According to the Centers for Disease Control, a single kilogram of fentanyl is enough to kill 500,000 people — meaning the amount they had could have killed 4 million.

According to U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio, Marco R. Merino, 44, of Columbus, and John J. Kotchkoski, 33, of Marengo, Ohio, were allegedly involved in the distribution of approximately seven and a half kilograms of fentanyl. Merino also allegedly accepted bribes to protect the transportation of cocaine.

According to the complaint, Kotchkoski was the supplier and he gave Merino the fentanyl to distribute. Prosecutors allege that the fentanyl distribution ring unfolded in June and August of this year and Merino made between $60,000 and $80,000 for his role in the ring.

Court documents detail that Merino intended to gain citizenship in Mexico as part of a plan to launder their drug proceeds. Merino allegedly planned to buy properties in Mexico to run as Airbnb properties and traveled to Mexico in July, according to the Department of Justice.

Merino bragged bout his police position and used it to distribute the fentanyl as well as transport over 27 kilograms of cocaine. That cocaine, however, was fake and part of an FBI sting which eventually led to the officers’ downfall.

Specifically, it is alleged that, in March, April, May, August and September 2021, Merino accepted a total of $44,000 in cash in exchange for protecting the safe transport of at least 27 kilograms of cocaine. Unbeknownst to Merino, there was no actual cocaine and each of the transactions was controlled by federal law enforcement.

During the transports of the purported cocaine, it is alleged Kotchkoski made himself available by radio to make any calls that Merino might need, including to other law enforcement officials, to protect the safe transportation of the cocaine. According to an affidavit, cell phone data places Kotchkoski near Merino during the transports.

If YouTube Wants to Ban ‘Vaccine Misinformation,’ It Needs to Start With These Government Officials

YouTube on Wednesday continued to follow the lead of its evil “don’t be evil” parent company Google and announced it would be banning videos that contain what it calls “vaccine misinformation.” The statement itself, ironically, contains vaccine misinformation. The announcement came in the form of a blog post on Wednesday:

Working closely with health authorities, we looked to balance our commitment to an open platform with the need to remove egregious harmful content. We’ve steadily seen false claims about the coronavirus vaccines spill over into misinformation about vaccines in general, and we’re now at a point where it’s more important than ever to expand the work we started with COVID-19 to other vaccines.

Specifically, content that falsely alleges that approved vaccines are dangerous and cause chronic health effects, claims that vaccines do not reduce transmission or contraction of disease, or contains misinformation on the substances contained in vaccines will be removed. This would include content that falsely says that approved vaccines cause autism, cancer or infertility, or that substances in vaccines can track those who receive them. Our policies not only cover specific routine immunizations like for measles or Hepatitis B, but also apply to general statements about vaccines.

The most problematic aspect of YouTube’s statement, beyond the obvious problem of a social media platform engaging in editorial discretion about what speech it will allow, is the passage on “claims that vaccines do not reduce transmission or contraction of disease.”

However, there are numerous datasets, current reports, and statements from public health officials that indicate that not only do Covid-19 ‘vaccines’ fail to lower the transmissibility of Covid-19, they are actually a major, if not potentially the predominant, conduit of the “Delta variant.”

A statement from CDC Director Rochelle Walensky in late July had acknowledged the possibility of vaccinated transmission of Covid-19.

“Today, some of those data were published in CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), demonstrating that Delta infection resulted in similarly high SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in vaccinated and unvaccinated people,” the report said. “High viral loads suggest an increased risk of transmission and raised concern that, unlike with other variants, vaccinated people infected with Delta can transmit the virus.”

The CDC Director in March had therefore spread her own “vaccine misinformation” in an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

The CDC released more data today into VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) which shows that there are now 1,969 fetal deaths among pregnant women who received a COVID-19 shot.

By way of contrast, I performed the exact same search in VAERS for all non-COVID-19 vaccines for the past 30 years, and it returned a result of 2,183 fetal deaths from pregnant women following vaccination for the past 30 years.

So there have been nearly the same amount of fetal deaths following COVID-19 shots during the past 10 months, as there have been for the past 30+ years that VAERS has been in existence!

And how has the CDC responded to this data?

This past week the CDC published recommendations for all pregnant women to get a COVID-19 shot!

Everyone acknowledges and agrees that VAERS is vastly under-reported, but now we have an expert analysis on just how under-reported adverse events are from Dr. Jessica Rose. Her conservative estimate based on a careful analysis of the data is that the events recorded in VAERS need to be multiplied by X41.

That would mean that a conservative estimate of the true numbers of fetal deaths would be 80,729 when their mothers are injected with a COVID-19 shot.

Some 565 Israelis are listed in the Pandora Papers, published by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, according to Shomrim, an investigative journalism nonprofit organization that took part in the investigation.

According to the report, the eToro company in which Barkat has holdings is registered in the Virgin Islands, despite the majority of its offices being located in Israel.

Barkat, while serving as Jerusalem’s mayor, claimed that his wealth was under a blind trust, as most politicians do. Yet the leaked data shows that much of his wealth was still under his name until 2019.

After Barkat was elected to the Knesset in 2019, he transferred the same shares to his brother Eli Barkat, despite the Knesset’s ethics committee’s guidelines requiring a “public trust company,” Shomrim says.

Barkat responds that “when he entered the public arena some 18 years ago, he transferred the management of all his business activity to his brother, and when he was elected to the Knesset, he filed blind trust documents alongside a full declaration of capital to the ethics committee and asked for its guidance. It is hard to disconnect the political interests at play in the publication of this ridiculous ‘investigation.'”

President Biden’s pick for Comptroller of the Currency has provoked sharp criticism for past and recent comments that praised the Soviet economy.

Biden on Sept. 23 nominated Saul Omarova, a law school professor at Cornell University, for the office responsible with the regulation and supervision of all national banks. Omarova’s nomination drew immediate pushback from powerful voices who criticized her background and past comments that indicated a favor for the policies of the USSR.

Omarova was born in the Soviet Union in what is now called Kazakhstan and graduated from Moscow State University in 1989. She has pointed to the USSR’s practices as recently as 2019, when she tweeted about the gender pay gap, citing the USSR as a better model.

"Until I came to the US, I couldn’t imagine that things like gender pay gap still existed in today’s world," Omarova wrote. "Say what you will about old USSR, there was no gender pay gap there. Market doesn’t always ‘know best.’"

Some officials were quick to release criticism and urge Biden to reconsider the nomination.

"I have serious reservations about her nomination," U.S. Senate Banking Committee Ranking Member Pat Toomey, R-Pa., wrote. King Abdullah Of Jordan Receives First Call From Syria’s Assad In Decade

On October 3, the royal Jordanian palace announced that King Abdullah had received a phone call from Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad. This was the first such communication between the town leaders since the start of the conflict in Syria a decade ago.

During the phone call, King Abdullah and President Assad discussed bilateral ties and means of enhancing cooperation between their respective countries.

“King Abdullah reiterated Jordan’s support for efforts to safeguard Syria’s sovereignty, stability, territorial integrity, and the unity of its people,” a statement on the call by the Royal Hashemite Court reads.

King Abdullah was among the leaders who called on Assad to step down following the outbreak of the conflict in Syria in 2011.

In the recent months, Jordan took a series of steps to normalize relations with Damascus once again, boosted by a US initiative to provide Egyptian gas and Jordanian electricity to crisis-struck Lebanon via Syria.

On September 19, Syrian Defense Minister and Chief of Staff Ali Ayyoub paid a visit to Jordan where discussed “fighting terrorism and border control” with the Kingdom’s military leadership. Later on September 23, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad met with his Jordanian counterpart in New York on the side line of the United Nations General Assembly meeting.

The relations between Jordan and Syria saw another breakthrough on September 28 when the Nasib border crossing linking the two countries was reopened.

Jordan’s rapprochement with Assad is a testimony to the failure of the US policy on Syria. NSW Police Commissioner says officers won't force businesses to comply with vaccine passport

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said that officers under his command will not force private businesses to comply with any measures that the government plans to impose on unvaccinated citizens.

As Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews prepares to institute a vaccine mandate for all authorized workers, another Australian state is refusing to enforce the state’s vaccine passport mandate.

Earlier this week, the police commissioner of New South Wales refused to enforce the state’s vaccine passport mandate, stating that officers will not check anyone’s vaccination status in public venues. The move appears to go against efforts by the government to pass a mandate that would ban all unvaccinated people from gaining entry to restaurants and other public spaces until at least early December.

In recent weeks Australia has come under increasing scrutiny for its brutal enforcement of pandemic-related lockdowns and masking policies, as extensively reported by Rebel News.

NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said that officers under his command will not force private businesses to comply with any measures that the government plans to impose on unvaccinated citizens.

“The role of police in terms of vaccine passports, we will not be walking through restaurants, cafes and pubs checking if people are double vaccinated,” he said, the Guardian reported.

Speaking on Sydney radio, the police chief said, “the police will assist restaurant owners and shop owners if they are refusing entry to someone — we’ll certainly respond to assist those people.”

However, Fuller’s remarks were later contradicted by NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard, who remarked that “If the law says you have to be double vaccinated, then, of course, the police will enforce that, they have no choice but to enforce that.”

Hazzard also stated that businesses would not face fines if they allowed the entry of an unvaccinated person. When pressed on why businesses would even bother to enforce the vaccine passport mandate if they don’t face any consequences for refusing to enforce it, Hazzard fired back at the media for obsessing over the details.

Much like France, not too many Australian businesses are too keen on implementing the heavy-handed requirement on their customers, with many businesses waiting to see the exact details of the forthcoming public health orders expected to drop in the coming weeks.

Despite efforts to resist vaccine mandates, some companies like national airline Qantas, have announced a ban on unvaccinated persons on international flights.

“What needs to be remembered is that there are many, many businesses who will actually make it very clear that as at 1 December, if you haven’t been vaccinated, you won’t be welcome and I think the airlines have made that very clear,” said Hazzard. “There are a lot of other businesses saying the same thing and I think people need to understand that a balancing act had to be struck.”

US Navy Awards Boeing $220M Taiwan Harpoon Contract

The US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) has awarded Boeing a $220 million contract to configure Taiwan’s Harpoon Coastal Defense Systems (HCDS).

According to the Department of Defense, the system includes Harpoon Block II Update Grade B Canister Launch All Up Round Missiles, the HCDS launch system, and Harpoon weapon station test and production equipment. The work will be carried out within and outside the US and is expected to be complete by July 2023.

The development comes a year after the US government approved the $2.4 billion sale of 100 HCDS to Taipei, which included 400 RGM-84L-4 Harpoon Block II Surface Launched Missiles with a maximum range of 75 miles (125 kilometers), four RTM-84L-4 Harpoon Block II Exercise Missiles, 411 containers, 25 radar trucks, spare parts, and support and test equipment.

The approval came within a week of the Trump administration announcing a $1.8 billion deal with the island territory that included, “11 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) M142 Launchers, 135 AGM-84H Standoff Land Attack Missile Expanded Response (SLAM-ER) Missiles and related equipment, and six MS-110 Recce external sensor pods made by Collins Aerospace for jets.”

Harpoon Block II

According to the US Navy, the Harpoon’s “active radar guidance, low-level, sea-skimming cruise trajectory, terminal mode sea-skim or pop-up maneuvers and warhead design, assure high survivability and effectiveness.” First deployed in 1977 with the navy, the missile was later adapted for B-52H bombers.

The missile’s latest iteration, the Harpoon Block II, uses a 500-pound warhead for sea and land-based targets such as “coastal defense sites, surface-to-air missile sites, exposed aircraft, port/industrial facilities and ships in port.”

Professor David Miller Fired after Israel Lobby Smear Campaign

The University of Bristol has fired Professor David Miller, a leading UK critic of Israel and its lobby.

After a years-long campaign of smears by that same lobby, the university said on Friday that, “Professor David Miller is no longer employed by the University of Bristol.”

The statement said only that Miller “did not meet the standards of behavior we expect from our staff,” though it did not elaborate.

Miller told The Electronic Intifada he would be appealing and “fighting it all the way.”

Yet the statement appeared to exonerate Miller from the Israel’s lobby’s deliberately false allegations of anti-Semitism.

An “independent report” by an unnamed lawyer had found that “Professor Miller’s comments did not constitute unlawful speech,” the statement acknowledged.

Miller said the report had actually gone further and that the lawyer’s report had “explicitly determined” his remarks “were not anti-Semitic.”

The Support David Miller Campaign, which has been rallying around the professor, responded that the university was sending a message that “it will protect racists, and [that] Muslims, Black students and Palestinians are not welcome at Bristol.”

In a statement sent to The Electronic Intifada, the campaign said that the university’s decision was “designed to send a chill down the spines of academics around the world who expose Zionist racism.”

The campaign said that Miller’s sacking had come after a “pressure campaign by Israel’s assets in the UK” and accused the university of collaborating with the Israel lobby.

For his part, Miller said that the decision to fire him was “taken under pressure from the Israel lobby” which he said “lobbies for a hostile foreign state. The university has embarrassed itself.”

"Pandora Papers" Leak Claims To Expose Hidden Wealth Allegedly Belonging To Putin, Other Foreign Leaders

It's been a while since we have seen a massive leak exposing international tax shelters that offer a window into the hidden wealth of the global elite. Buzzfeed brought us the Fincen files a year ago, and before that, the Panama Papers, in early 2016 - leaked documents from the Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca - which offered a wealth of information that implicated foreign leaders (it even cost the leader of Iceland his job) including - of course - Russian Vladimir Putin.

Amusingly, though, these major leaks never seem to expose wealth held by American political leaders. And, so today, we have yet another leak, following the same pattern as the Panama Papers - dropping out of nowhere on an otherwise quiet Sunday afternoon - to expose foreign leaders from the Middle East and Eastern Europe, meaning there's - you guessed it - another Putin connection.

Soros-Funded Group Releases 'Pandora Papers' Allegedly Exposing 'Offshore Secrets' of World Leaders

Journalists claimed that the leaked documents from 14 offshore companies unveiled "how the rule of law has been bent and broken around the world by a system of financial secrecy enabled by the U.S. and other wealthy nations".

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has released the Pandora Papers, the largest trove of leaked offshore data, accusing world leaders, businessmen, and celebrities of engaging in offshore activities.

The consortium, which receives general support funding from the Open Society Foundations, founded by Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros, claims that the just-published documents represent "the most expansive exposé of financial secrecy yet".

According to the ICIJ, the investigation involved more than 650 journalists from 117 countries. It reportedly includes 11.9 million leaked files "covering every corner of the globe".

In 2018, Imran Khan, the Pakistani cricketing legend turned anti-corruption campaigner finally broke through.

After more than two decades in the political wilderness, the charismatic Oxford-educated media star seized on the publication of the Panama Papers, the 2016 journalistic exposé that revealed the offshore secrets of the global elite. Among the findings: The children of Pakistan’s sitting prime minister secretly owned a string of luxury London apartments.

Riding a wave of public outrage, Khan led protests around the country and a sit-in at the residence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, demanding that he step down. With the support of the military establishment, Khan propelled his reformist party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), or Pakistan Movement for Justice, past its rivals in the 2018 national elections and propelled himself into the prime minister’s office in Islamabad.

In a televised victory speech, Khan promised a new era.

“We will establish supremacy of the law,” he said. “Whoever violates the law, we will act against them. Our state institutions will be so strong that they will stop corruption. Accountability will start with me, then my ministers, and then it will go from there.”

Now leaked documents reveal that key members of Khan’s inner circle, including cabinet ministers, their families and major financial backers have secretly owned an array of companies and trusts holding millions of dollars of hidden wealth. Military leaders have been implicated as well. The documents contain no suggestion that Khan himself owns offshore companies.

Among those whose holdings have been exposed are Khan’s finance minister, Shaukat Fayaz Ahmed Tarin, and his family, and the son of Khan’s former adviser for finance and revenue, Waqar Masood Khan. The records also reveal the offshore dealings of a top PTI donor, Arif Naqvi, who is facing fraud charges in the United States.

A small private plane carrying six passengers and two crew members crashed into a vacant, two-story office building in a Milan suburb, killing everyone on board.

The LaPresse news agency initially quoted firefighters at the scene saying the pilot and all five passengers aboard were killed.

But later LaPresse and other media said there were eight people aboard the flight, including a boy.

Rai state TV said the passengers were believed to be French.

Riot squad deployed as Penrith's Grand Final celebration turns wild

The streets of Penrith erupted in chaos overnight as locked-down fans celebrated the Panthers' hard-fought NRL Grand Final win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Police moved in as a crowd of hundreds converged on the Penrith Leagues Club.

Drivers were seen doing burn-outs, while passengers in other cars sat in the boot and waved Panthers flags.

Another popular spot for revellers was the family home of Panthers five-eighth Jarome Luai.

There were reports that some of the fans allegedly turned on police who tried to impose order, with the Leagues Club carparks eventually closed off.
