Sinema was sworn in as a member of the U.S. Senate on January 3, 2019.[105] During the oath of office ceremony, led by vice president Mike Pence, she decided to be sworn in not on the traditional Bible, but on copies of the United States Constitution and the Constitution of Arizona.
On February 14, 2019, Sinema voted to confirm William Barr as attorney general.
