If you mean oil to use in the food itself, we keep the big tubs of lard. Takes very little and last forever.
Where I live, the gas is to run the generator once a day to shower and draw up enough drinking water for the next day if the electricity goes out.
I learned to do that the hard way.
I guess I should mention I have a water well, so my source of water goes out if the electricity does
