Tomatoes and other fruits, like berries, seem to be the most not lucrative business model. No-spray sweet corn, too. Other than that it’s all so much effort for very little return. Added-value products that come from agriculture are the bigger seller. Takes a lot, though. Wish anon got into mushroom get growing and milling lumber or making cheese. So many things that require too much overhead and licensing it makes it near impossible with no money
It takes old money, a million dollars in equipment, and a shit ton of land to make a living. A small farm has very little chance of survival without some kind of other income. It shouldn’t be that way. Busting your ass for nothing becomes hurtful spiritually. Small farms should be championed. Wish things would change because bankers and politicians and the like darn well deserve less
