Back in the day you were either a child or an adult, not an "adolescent." Teenagers as a demographic, that's a fairly recent thing, thinking 1950s.

 

Children were raised to be responsible, so a 16-year-old getting married 150 years ago would have been business as usual. Now you have college being known as extended adolescence.

 

It's like people don't want to grow up.
