That said, there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the mental and emotional maturity level of 15-18 y/o then, and 15-18 y/o now.
And a huge difference in society as a whole.

In most cases, absolutely untrue. More liberal spewing "women are victims" talking points. Anon knows not one single woman in my very LARGE ancestral family who ever had a dowry. That's just hilarious.
Unless a family was rich, and most weren't, marriage was usually a necessity to SURVIVE in the society in which they lived. I mean to physically stay alive. Yes, I'm sure there were daughters used to advance political positions or finances, but for the majority, it was for survival for all involved (and in most cases, probably love).
I daresay those anons who's before generations were not affluent can testify.
