I disagree. I'm a first gen immigrant from a shithole Euro country and Canadians have been so kind to me in comparison to many other countries I've visited including my homeland. In other places they'll feed a stray dog before their fellow human down on their luck. Canadians deserve much better than this, I'd fight for them. Just my experience though.
