(Beirut) – Saudi authorities since May 15, 2018, detained a total of seven prominent women’s rights defenders, Human Rights Watch said today. The activists have long advocated ending the ban on women driving and abolishing the discriminatory male guardianship system. Among those arrested are Eman al-Nafjan and Lujain al-Hathloul, along with two male activists, but authorities have not revealed the reason behind the arrests.

Arizona - Mesa Teacher Indicted After FBI Finds 15k Files of Child Pornography
The Federal Bureau of Investigation was able to find over 15,000 files of child pornography belonging to a Mesa, Arizona high school teacher, who has now been indicted for having images and videos of 10 to 12-year-old children engaged forced sexual relations with an adult.
Kyle Wade Cummins, a Social Studies teacher as well as a coach for the boy's variety basketball team at Mountain View High School, and he has now been indicted on 4 counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

The Trump administration on Friday took aim at Planned Parenthood by announcing plans to resurrect a rule banning federally funded family planning clinics from discussing abortion with patients.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley has sent a letter (full pdf below) and list of questions to Asst. Attorney General Rod Rosenstein asking about the appointment, instructions and power of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
The primary question within the letter is: under what authority, and within what statute, is the AAG authorized to assign a counterintelligence investigation to a special counsel:
“More specifically, section 600.1 states the Attorney General “will appoint a Special Counsel when he or she determines that criminal investigation of a person or matter is warranted.” The omitted regulations do not authorize counterintelligence investigations.”
