Seems pretty obvious that the military is running the show already, directing this "movie" for the world to watch. Warp Speed was a military operation to develop this killer vaccine… Think the military isn't using every dirty little secret they know to pull the levers of gov't? We don't get any choices in matters of "National Security".
Maybe the mil hosted a virtual war where each participating party would just kill X number of their own people, while avoiding infrastructure damage, and call it a day? Winners already declared. War booty already divided. Humans lose X, computers lose X, Transhumans win all?

No. I mean the US mil, for matters of National Security that they can't disclose. Perhaps aliens are real? Perhaps they can't co-exist with humans. Perhaps we made a deal with them for technology, but in exchange the human species had to eventually die and become transhuman so that peace could happen? Perhaps any other outcome would've been much more destructive and violent?
