They killed James Bond. Why? Outside of the obvious desire to destroy the "white patriarchy", the deeper reason is because the people who control popular media are not only unimaginative, they are immoral. Heroic escapist fantasy is about bigger than life characters that triumph over evil because they are good. In order to tell a story like that, you must believe in the power of good. The power of light over darkness. The idea that no matter how untenable a situation is, perseverance and willpower will always overcome. The modern "story tellers" lack all belief in the triumph of the human spirit, lack all goodness, so they can only destroy. Hence the death of Luke Skywalker, death of James Bond, and all the other bigger than life heros. Small minded, immoral people, just don't get it. /end rant
