Anons, the stuff contained at this link could be big. Look at this letter from Veselnitskaya–she's saying that some Americans might have played the system to take advantage of both the US and Russia, which might have resulted in the Magnitsky Act.

Take it with a grain of salt, but we may be able to draw connections…
