Plane crashes into homes near Santee, California, causing inferno and killing at least 2 (VIDEOS)

A small aircraft has crashed near a high school in Santee, California, just north of San Diego, hitting several buildings and setting some ablaze. At least two people were killed and another two injured, fire officials said.

The plane, a twin-engine Cessna C340, crashed down onto a residential street in Santee, a suburban area of San Diego County, early on Monday afternoon. A fire department spokesman told local media that at least two people were confirmed dead in the crash so far, though said that toll could rise, and added that two people had been taken to hospital for treatment. Their current condition is unknown.

Schiff: Republican Lawmakers Who Push the Lie Trump Won Are ‘Insurrectionists in Suits and Ties’

House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Monday on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that Republican lawmakers that back former President Donald Trump’s claims he won the 2020 presidential election are “insurrectionists in suits and ties.”

Co-host George Stephanopoulos said, “Let’s fast forward to January 6. You start out the book in pretty dramatic fashion, having to put on a gas mask you thought you would never have to use as a member of Congress.”

Schiff said, “I remember when the police officer said grab your masks, thinking masks? Are there masks here? He told us they were under the seats. I have been in Congress for 20 years, I didn’t know they were gas hoods under the seats, but the whole thing was just surreal. Once you took out those masks, a fan started, this buzzing all over the chamber. People were becoming increasingly panicked and shouting.”

He continued, “I remember first running into one of the Republicans and saying, ‘How long have you been here?’ Because I didn’t recognize him. He said 72 hours, and I said ’72 hours?’ ‘Yes, I just got elected.’ All I could say was, ‘It’s not always like this.’ I couldn’t imagine being a new member and facing this, but I couldn’t imagine any of us facing this. I couldn’t imagine people climbing outside the building. We started hearing the windows shattering. The police were shouting at us to get out, and some of the Republicans were telling me, ‘you can’t let them see you.’ I remember one saying—”

Governor Hochul Signs Legislation Protecting Undocumented Immigrants from Threats to Report Their Immigration Status

Legislation (S.343-A/A.3412-A) Applies the Legal Standard of Extortion or Coercion to a Person Threatening to Report Another Person's Immigration Status

Governor Kathy Hochul today signed legislation (S.343-A/A.3412-A) classifying certain threats to report a person's immigration status as extortion or coercion under New York law. Threats to report a person's immigration status can currently be treated as a crime in cases of labor trafficking and sex trafficking, but were not previously treated as potential extortion or coercion offenses.

"New York is built on the hard work and determination of generations of immigrants, and we need to support people who are trying to build better lives for themselves and their families," Governor Hochul said. "This legislation will protect New Yorkers from bad actors who use extortion or coercion due to their immigration status, and make our state safer against vile threats and intimidation."

This bill allows prosecutors to prosecute efforts to blackmail an individual by threatening to cause deportation proceedings even when unrelated to labor or sex trafficking. Similar measures have been enacted in California, Colorado, Maryland and Virginia, and this legislation is based off model legislation recommended by The Public Leadership Institute titled "Prevent Extortion of Immigrants Act."

Massachusetts Teacher Fired Over Opposition To CRT, LGBTQ Agenda In Schools

A math and business teacher at Hanover High School received a termination letter over social media posts she made that expressed her opposition to Critical Race Theory (CRT), as well as the LGBTQ agenda in public schools. The teacher, Kari MacRae, says she has sought out a lawyer and will consider her options. Elected to the Bourne School Board in May 2021, MacRae made TikTok videos for her campaign in which she said she would make sure CRT wouldn’t be taught in Bourne schools, and expressed her opposition to schools teaching that students “can choose whether or not they can be a girl or a boy.” She has refused calls to resign from the school board position.
