“Tilting at windmills” is a euphemism for Quixotic.

“Quixotic” is often a euphemism for ‘impossible or futile effort’. Most often, the person claiming another’s efforts are futile (The Shiny Shills of QR, urp), is underhandedly trying to discourage the effort from continuing, WHILE avoiding saying outright they want the effort to stop. That person is trying to shame the other into giving up. Ironically, people who don’t ‘get’ Quixote, just like irony, don’t understand what they are saying.

The person trying to stop a worthy effort, by invoking the futility of “tilting at windmills”… is either poorly read, stupid, and/or outright evil for trying to STOP the worthy effort (no matter how seemingly impossible, futile or “Quixotic”).

Smugly McSmugerson says ‘China can’t be beat. We are too weak. It’s tilting at windmills and Quixotic to even think that we can ever beat them. See me, i’m giving up. You should too.’

As a pilot/APanon, often wonder if the 737MAX was one of [their] attempts to replace pilots, but because [they] are so stupid (to imagine enough electronics and telemetricAI could do it all) it turned into the huge flop it is.

Driving, maintaining and fixing plane is not so difficult in itself… it’s the PIC (Pilot in Command) part and being honestly responsible for the lives of others, that is. [They] don’t/can’t ‘get’ that part.

The fundamental training and instruction (much of it properly remains intact, even if it largely seems only vestigial from a 100 years ago… the good reasons are still there) is to THINK INDEPENDENTLY no matter what the instruments say. This IS and properly so, at diametric odds to what [they] want.

Human flight (how ever one wants to define that), is at odds with what [They] want. I can not over state or exaggerate this in any way.

This ‘question’ goes back a long way.

Fly-by-wire, drone, remote control, AI in the cockpit… [they] have been trying to bring humanity back down on the ground for a long time.
