Pelosi receives NATO ‘Women for Peace’ award, jokes about ‘ruling the world’

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) joked about ruling the world after NATO honored her with the newly introduced ‘Women For Peace and Security’ award at the parliamentary conference in Portugal.

“When people ask me, ‘If you ruled the world, what one thing would you do?’ – I think about that a lot,” Pelosi said, laughing. Though the 10-second video did not show what answer she gave, the transcript of her speech, posted on the official website of the House Speaker, revealed the rest.

“That would be easy. It would be to prioritize the education of women and girls… Because we truly do believe that when women succeed, America succeeds – or any country succeeds. But globally, we all succeed,” Pelosi said in answer to her own rhetorical question.

The 81-year-old Democrat from California addressed the 67th annual session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, as the leader of the US delegation – and the historic first recipient of the newly inaugurated ‘Women For Peace And Security Award.’

Introduced after the alliance summit in October 2020, the purpose of the prize is officially to honor a woman who has demonstrated “equal participation of women and men in the field of peace and security” or protection of women in conflicts, or “mainstreaming of women's needs and perspectives” in post-conflict relief and recovery.

Pelosi was chosen for the honor by a jury composed of the NATO PA committee members and the special representative for women, peace and security. She received it from the newly elected president of the PA, Gerald Connolly, a Virginia congressman and her fellow Democrat.

During the speech, Pelosi argued that NATO is not just a security alliance, but “cohesion built around values.” A peaceful world is “furthered not just by security and fairness in our economies. But it's also about values and governance,” she said.

She also praised NATO for working to “mainstream a gender perspective into peacekeeping operations and prioritizing greater representation of women at all decision-making levels.”

She also saluted NATO for the “success and cooperation” in Afghanistan, six weeks after the last alliance soldier left Kabul on board a US cargo plane, leaving the country to the Taliban. The NATO-backed Afghan government had collapsed two weeks prior, almost without a fight.

Vatican enjoys diplomatic immunity, European human rights court says, dismissing alleged child-abuse victims

The Vatican enjoys sovereign immunity that protects it from sexual-abuse lawsuits in local courts, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled, after a case was put forward by 24 people who claim to be victims.

On Tuesday, the top court dismissed a case submitted by two dozen people who claim to be survivors of child sexual abuse at the hands of the Catholic clergy from France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The alleged survivors had initially filed a class action in the Ghent Court of First Instance against the Holy See and several high figures in the clergy in 2011, demanding €10,000 ($11,600) in compensation for each victim because of the Church’s “policy of silence on the issue of sexual abuse.”

The lawsuit complained “of the structurally deficient way in which the Church had dealt with the known problem of sexual abuse within it.”

Just over two years later, however, the Ghent Court said that it did not have jurisdiction over the Holy See, prompting the individuals to escalate their case to the top European court.

The ECHR on Tuesday sided with the Belgian court in a 6-1 ruling, which concluded that it agreed with its findings that the Holy See enjoyed “diplomatic immunity” and “was recognized internationally as having the common attributes of a foreign sovereign, with the same rights and obligations as a state.”

Last week, a bombshell missive unveiled that up to 330,000 children were sexually abused by clergy and lay members of France’s Catholic Church over a period of seven decades. Between 2,900 to 3,200 priests and clergy were accused of assault during this time.

Olivier Savignac, head of victims’ association ‘Parler et Revivre’ (‘Speak Out and Live Again’), said the startling figures equate to “one aggressor for 70 victims,” which he said is “terrifying for the French society, for the Catholic Church.”

In the wake of the damning report, Pope Francis expressed his regret at the findings of the expose, remarking that “it is also my shame, our shame, my shame, for the incapacity of the Church for too long to put them at the center of its concerns,” and implored French bishops to “continue to make every effort so that similar tragedies will not be repeated.”

Two Georgia Election Workers Fired After Allegedly Shredding Hundreds of Voter Registration Applications

Two Fulton County, Georgia election workers were fired after allegations that they shredded hundreds of voter registration applications over the last couple of weeks.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has called for the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate.

“After 20 years of documented failure in Fulton County elections, Georgians are tired of waiting to see what the next embarrassing revelation will be,” Raffensperger said in a press release Monday. “The Department of Justice needs to take a long look at what Fulton County is doing and how their leadership disenfranchises Fulton voters through incompetence and malfeasance. The voters of Georgia are sick of Fulton County’s failures.”

Raffensperger’s office has also launched their own investigation.

The allegations against the unnamed employees comes just three weeks before Fulton County’s municipal elections.

“Elections are the most important function of our government,” Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts said in the release. “We have committed to transparency and integrity.”

The workers were fired on Friday after being reported by other employees earlier in the day.

“Those who believe their registration may have been impacted by the incident and are not registered on election day will be allowed to cast a provisional ballot while the investigation attempts to determined which voters were affected,” Fox News reports.

Southwest To Comply With Biden Vaccine Order, Ignore Texas Ban

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines will ignore a Texas Executive Order prohibiting any entity from imposing Covid-19 vaccine mandates on employees or customers.

Instead, the beleaguered airline will comply with a yet-to-be issued Biden federal mandate which requires that government employees and contractors get vaccinated, according to CEO Gary Kelly in a Tuesday interview with CNBC.

"I’ve never been in favor of corporations imposing that kind of a mandate. I’m not in favor that. Never have been," Kelly told "Squawk on the Street," adding "But the executive order from President Biden mandates that all federal employees and then all federal contractors, which covers all the major airlines, have to have a [vaccine] mandate … in place by December the 8th, so we’re working through that."

In addition to federal workers and contractors, President Biden announced a mandate last month which requires companies with 100 or more employees to ensure that their workforce is vaccinated or tested regularly. The Labor Department has yet to release details of the emergency rule, however Biden encouraged companies to 'act now' and not to wait for the requirement to go into effect.

Shawn told Rob Schmitt he does not believe his airline has the right to fire him over this vaccine and he is willing to speak up about it, adding, “I think my job is a small sacrifice to pay for all of the Americans who deserve their medical freedom.”

Shawn also said he is not alone and the numbers are growing. “It’s growing by tens of thousands. I mean thousands every day where the number is tens of thousands. Honestly its growing so fast now we can’t even keep track. I think a lot of people were afraid to speak out. They didn’t know what to do. They’re worried about possible backlash, possible termination from their jobs or their careers, and everyone has to draw a line in the sand. The Americans aren’t listening to us,’ Russia says as major Moscow talks between Biden’s envoy and Kremlin’s diplomats break down

Relations between Russia and the US could worsen in the wake of long-awaited negotiations between the two countries that are making less progress than originally hoped, Moscow’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has said.

The verdict comes after US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland arrived in the country on Monday to hold three days of talks with Russian officials. On Tuesday, local media reported that negotiations between Nuland and Ryabkov were floundering as the diplomats struggled to find common ground.

Earlier this week, Moscow lifted sanctions on Nuland, which allowed the US undersecretary of state to enter the country for a summit with her Russian counterparts.

Despite Nuland saying that she is “glad to be back in Russia to deal with bilateral relations,” Ryabkov said there is a high chance that the state of affairs will only worsen as a result.

“I cannot say that we have made great progress. The topics of visas, the operating conditions of diplomatic missions, the rotation of diplomatic staff, the overall normalization of the activities of Russian foreign missions in the United States and the United States in Russia retain a significant crisis potential, and it cannot be ruled out that some further exacerbations are possible in these areas,” he said.

“The positions of the parties do not fit well. Americans do not listen to our logic and our demands. But nevertheless, the conversation was useful,” he added.

While talks are still ongoing, Ryabkov has said that Moscow does not want tensions between Russia and the US to escalate further and asked for international restrictions to be removed. Particular attention was paid to issues concerning the missions of Russia and the United States on each other’s territories. The Russian side emphasized that hostile anti-Russian actions will not remain unanswered, but Moscow does not seek further escalation. “We propose to remove all restrictions introduced by both sides over the past few years,” he said.

The negotiations come just days after four US senators urged President Joe Biden to expel 300 Russian diplomats and take “immediate action to increase staffing at the US embassy in Moscow” over disparity between the number of personnel in the Russian and US embassies.

London train comes off tracks after CRASHING through buffers, injuring 2 and forcing station's evacuation

A London Overground train crashed during rush hour on Tuesday morning, smashing through the buffers and coming off the tracks. The train came to a halt inches from the station building. Two people were injured.

The accident, which happened at around 8:20am local time on Tuesday, left the driver needing treatment for shock and injured two people, with authorities evacuating around 50 people from the station to “make the scene safe.”

Footage and photographs shared online from the station show just how close the train came to making contact with the building.

Enfield Town’s station commander, Jim O’Neill, confirmed that the train had “hit the buffers at the station,” which is the end of the line, before it went “over the top of them.”

Transport for London, which oversees the London Overground network, halted services from nearby Edmonton Green to Enfield Town, while authorities worked to secure the scene and clear the damaged train. It’s not clear when that section of the line will reopen for use.

Authorities do not yet know how the incident occurred. Emergency services and British Transport Police have already attended the scene to begin conducting their investigations into the crash.

Landmark ruling by UK's High Court grants victims of human trafficking the right to stay in Britain

The UK’s High Court has ruled that thousands of human trafficking victims, who have been stuck in “legal limbo” awaiting asylum or humanitarian protection, should be granted leave to remain, in a landmark decision.

The judgement, delivered by Justice Linden on Tuesday, orders the UK government to grant, en masse, leave to remain to thousands of human trafficking victims who have been forced to wait for years while applications for asylum make their way through the Home Office and courts.

Speaking in the High Court, Justice Linden discussed the impact of the delays, stating that “the effect of the refusal to grant the claimant modern slavery leave is that she is subject to the so-called hostile environment underpinned by the Immigration Act 2014.”

The case was sparked by a legal challenge against the Home Office by an unnamed 33-year-old Vietnamese woman who claimed to have been trafficked to the UK in the back of a lorry, before being forced to work in brothels and in drug production.

Despite being recognised as a victim of human trafficking, she was first sentenced by Preston Crown Court to 28 months in prison for conspiring to produce cannabis and later locked up in immigration detention by the Home Office pending the outcome of her asylum appeal.

Praising the court’s ruling, lawyer Ahmed Aydeed, who represented a trafficking victim, welcomed how it will ensure that individuals seeking asylum or protection “will no longer be left to live in this half-world, this legal limbo that has stripped them of their dignity and exposed them to further exploitation.”

The UK government has not yet publicly responded to the judgement. The Home Office has until October 19 to decide if it wishes to appeal the ruling.

The second Facebook whistleblower has come out and seeks to testify before Congress about the social media company’s “potential criminal violations.” Sophie Zhang, a transgender woman, claims to have submitted documents to an unnamed US law enforcement agency regarding her allegations.

“If Congress wishes for me to testify, I will fulfill my civic duty, as I’ve publicly stated for the past half year. Last year, I testified privately before a European Parliamentary committee though I was avoiding press. My duty to democracy comes first,” Zhang tweeted on Thursday.

Zhang worked as a low-level data scientist at Facebook before being fired by the company last year. On the day of her termination, she published a nearly 8,000 word memo accusing Facebook of not censoring their platform enough. “She was fired by Facebook last year detailing how she believed the company was not doing enough to tackle hate and misinformation,” reported CNN.

Zhang grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is the daughter of parents who hail from mainland Communist China.

On September 30, Zhang tweeted that “the divisions of the United States in the present day have deepened to the point where I am deeply worried that the American democratic experiment will effectively end within the next two decades, or that another civil war will occur in that time. Woman Missing for 2 Weeks, Found Dead in Police Van, In Dept’s Parking Lot—Family Demanding Video

Huntsville, AL — If you are looking for a parking lot or building with the most surveillance cameras in place, a police station would likely be a good start. There are likely many cameras around every police station, filming the building and the parking lot alike. It is this video footage that the family of Christina Nance is demanding from police after she was found dead in the back of a Huntsville police van — parked in the middle of their parking lot.

Police have not yet released video showing when the van was parked there or how Nance, 29, ended up in the back of it.

“She was just very positive, fun-loving and caring person, very sweet, very sweet,” Christina’s sister, Whitney Nance told WAFF.

”She was fun to be around, real sweet, innocent,” said Christina’s cousin Amanda Mastin.

“I just looked back at her and she was just smiling,” Latausha Nance, Christina’s other sister said. “And I said, ‘Christina, why are you smiling like that?’ and she just said, ‘Oh nothing, it’s nothing.’ That’s the last memory I have of my sister.”

Nearly two weeks ago, the Nance family was shocked to learn that Christina was missing and they’ve been frantically searching for her ever since. Then, on Oct. 7, they found out where she had been — dead, in the back of a police van, in the police department’s parking lot.

”We have no idea how she ended up there out of all places, why there out of all places, why there,” Whitney said. ”She was in the van the entire time and nobody knew. Not even the police department knew.”

According to police, an officer walking through the parking lot discovered Nance’s body in the back of the van. Police claim they leave the doors to the van unlocked all the time so anyone could climb in there.

The idea of police leaving their vehicles unlocked is ludicrous given the gear that is inside them, not to mention, vandals and others who may seek to get inside them.

According to the Madison County Coroner, Nance’s body didn’t show any signs of trauma but the family is still suspicious and want to know some answers.

”That’s why we want answers, and we want to see the footage. We do not believe that our sister would just randomly walk to a van and climb in it. First of all, why wasn’t the van locked on police property? Everything should be secured and locked,” said Nance.

But the family hasn’t gotten that footage and police are ignoring them. According to WAFF:

The Nance family says Christina visited the department often for help and even called family members to pick her up from there from time to time. They went to Police headquarters the very next day wanting to see any surveillance video that may answer their questions and was told the investigator handling their case was out of the office.

They say no one has reached back out to them or even offered their condolences.

“We can start the healing process so we’ll know exactly what went on,” said Nance.

Unfortunately, it seems that they may not know what went on for some time as it has now been nearly a week since Christina’s body was found in the van and the family has no more information than the day that she was found.

According to the family, an autopsy is going to be performed this week to determine the cause of her death. They are asking for donations to help pay for funeral expenses and an independent autopsy. You can find their GoFundMe campaign here.

IMF Cuts US Growth Forecast Due to Supply Chain Chaos, Weaker Spending

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has slashed its growth forecast for the United States by one full percentage point, blaming supply chain disruptions and weaker consumption, while warning of growing economic risks to the world economy.

In its most recent World Economic Outlook, released on Oct. 12, the IMF cut the growth forecast for the United States from 7.0 percent in July—a level that would have been the strongest pace since 1984—down to 6.0 percent. At the same time, the IMF raised the U.S. growth forecast for 2022 by 0.3 of a percentage point to 5.2 percent.

The sharp downgrade was blamed on large inventory drawdowns in the second quarter, partly driven by supply chain chaos, as well as softening consumption in the third quarter.

U.S. growth could shrink further, the IMF said, because its forecasts assume that a deeply divided Congress will approve President Joe Biden’s proposed infrastructure and social spending package worth around $4 trillion over a decade.

The IMF also trimmed its 2021 global growth forecast by 0.1 of a percentage point to 5.9 percent from the 6.0 percent forecast it made in July while leaving the 2022 growth projection unchanged at 4.9 percent. Beyond 2022, global growth is expected to moderate to around 3.3 percent.

“This modest headline revision, however, masks large downgrades for some countries,” the IMF said in the report. “The outlook for the low-income developing country group has darkened considerably due to worsening pandemic dynamics. The downgrade also reflects more difficult near-term prospects for the advanced economy group, in part due to supply disruptions.”

Demand-supply mismatches, fueled in part by excess savings built up in wealthy countries, have driven up prices, causing spikes in inflation.

The IMF said it expects inflation to return to pre-pandemic levels next year, but warned that persistent supply disruptions and the dynamics of the outbreak mean there is “great uncertainty” around the prospects for inflation.

Price pressures are expected to be more persistent in emerging markets and developing countries, though in all cases the IMF warned that if central banks are too slow to pull back on stimulus they risk a de-anchoring of inflation expectations, potentially leading to a negative feedback loop that could undermine policy objectives.

In cases where inflation is rising while employment rates continue to lag and the risk of inflation expectations de-anchoring are becoming concrete, the IMF recommended tightening “to get ahead of price pressures, even if that delays the employment recovery.”

“The alternative of waiting for stronger employment outcomes runs the risk that inflation increases in a self-fulfilling way, undermining the credibility of the policy framework and creating more uncertainty,” the IMF said.

“A spiral of doubt could hold back private investment and lead to precisely the slower employment recovery central banks seek to avoid when holding off on policy tightening,” it added.

The IMF recommended that monetary policy remain accommodative where inflation pressures are contained and inflation expectations are still below the central bank target, and there is slack in the labor market.

A number of economists have recently amplified their calls for the Fed to ease off on stimulus, including Nouriel Roubini, known for correctly predicting the 2008 financial meltdown at a time of peak market exuberance.

JP Morgan chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon has branded Bitcoin as “worthless” and said that governments will soon regulate cryptocurrencies.

Dimon has been outspoken about digital currencies in the past, previously telling Axios that it has “no intrinsic value” and that regulators are going to “regulate the hell out of it.”

At a virtual event hosted by the Institute of International Finance on Monday, Dimon doubled down on his previous comments, saying,” I personally think that bitcoin is worthless.”

No Jab, No School: UK Threatens to Bar Unvaccinated Children from Face-to-Face Learning

The British government has embarked on a pressure campaign to make parents get their children vaccinated or potentially risk losing the ability for their kids to attend school in person.

While the Boris Johnson administration has not mandated coronavirus vaccines for children, Health Secretary Sajid Javid and Education Secretary Nahdhim Zahawi have written to parents warning their children might be prevented from face-to-face lessons.

The letter said that parents should encourage their children to “come forward for the Covid-19 vaccine”, as it is “one of the best things young people can do” to ensure the protection of themselves and others, according to The Telegraph.

Though the government ministers acknowledged in their letter that young children face limited risk from the Chinese virus, they still should get the jab in order to “reduce the spread” of COVID-19.

“That is why we are encouraging you all to support your children to get vaccinated and to continue to test regularly. This will help to detect cases early, reduce spread, and keep students in education.”

“We know that students have missed a lot of time in school and college since the pandemic started, and that there is no substitute for face-to-face learning,” the letter said, adding that the government needs the help of parents encouraging vaccination in order to keep schools open to all.

“Keeping students in the classroom in the coming months is therefore a Government priority, both for their immediate and longer-term wellbeing.”

The pressure campaign seemingly comes in direct contradiction to proclamations made by Zahawi, who said last month that there should be “no stigma” around children refusing to get the vaccine.

Teen Arrested for Using President Macron’s Personal Vaccine Pass QR Code

Police have arrested a 19-year-old in Marseille for entering a hospital using the QR code for French president Emmanuel Macron’s coronavirus passport.

The teen presented the French leader’s QR code at the Salvator Hospital of Marseille last Tuesday. Security guards realised the young man was attempting to enter the hospital using bogus credentials but allowed him to enter before informing the police.

Officers arrived at the hospital and took the teen into custody, with a source close to the investigation telling news website Actu17 on the weekend: “He explained that he had an appointment and had to participate in a working group. Given that he did not have a health pass, he decided to present that of Emmanuel Macron, which had been leaked on the internet a few weeks ago.”

The leaking of President Macron’s QR code on social media networks had raised concerns over the system’s ability to protect the privacy of French citizens.

“This system works, but there has been an ethical flaw on the part of one or more health professionals. Someone made an impression of the QR code and circulated it voluntarily or by negligence,” the French government had said in response to the leak.

Macron is not the only major French official to have his health pass QR code leaked. Prime Minister Jean Castex also had his code leaked after a photographer took a picture of him while the code was displayed on his smartphone.

The French National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) told broadcaster France Info that there are three main ways people try and circumvent the vaccine passport system in France.

The first involves fake QR codes, while the second sees people using QR codes belonging to others who have been fully vaccinated, and the third is real health passes but which are obtained fraudulently by people who have not been vaccinated.

Presenting a coronavirus passport belonging to someone else is a crime in France, punishable by a €750 (£637.76/$866.95) fine or €135 (£114.80/$156.05) if the fine is paid on the spot. Anyone caught repeating their actions within 15 days can face a €1,500 (£1,275.52/$1,733.91) fine.

USA TODAY Joins Bloomberg’s Anti-Gun Propaganda

The senior leaders at Gannett’s flagship newspaper, USA TODAY, have surrendered their objectivity, independence and impartiality to an anti-gun group that wants to strip law-abiding Americans of their constitutional rights.

After Joe Biden’s ATF nominee, David Chipman, was rejected by the Senate, these editors allowed their newspaper to be used by Chipman’s supporters – who are working in their own newsroom – to rewrite the narrative of Chipman’s aborted confirmation, and the editors are not letting their highly touted journalism ethics get in the way.

For USA TODAY, this is nothing new. It’s all part of an incestuous partnership the newspaper has with the Trace – the propaganda arm of billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun empire.

The Trace describes itself as the “only newsroom dedicated to reporting on gun violence.” It has slick digital packages that are chockfull of stories, photos and videos, so it’s easy to confuse the Trace with an actual news website. But a news site it is not. The Trace supplies propaganda for Bloomberg’s other anti-gun groups, which include Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action, as well as any members of the media willing to cut and paste their stories.

The Trace advocates for more restrictive gun laws, but their message is a lot slicker than the handmade signs carried by Demanding Moms and Everytown supporters. Reporters at the Trace are activists, not journalists. They advocate for more gun control. That’s their job.

In June, we revealed how the unethical relationship between the Trace and USA TODAY produced a biased investigation, which targeted law-abiding gun dealers. The Trace supplied two editors and five reporters for the project, which was widely panned even before it was published.

We also showed how USA TODAY allowed Bloomberg’s activists to continue to write stories for the newspaper, which were biased, anti-gun hit pieces falsely labeled as news.

Now, the ethically challenged USA TODAY editors have allowed one of Bloomberg’s own anti-gun activists to interview Giffords’ most infamous anti-gun activist, Chipman, for a glowing puff-piece the newspaper titled: “Biden nominated him to head gun oversight. He went down in flames – but he’s not done fighting.”

The story was written by USA TODAY reporter Nick Penzenstadler and Brian Freskos, a staff writer for the Trace who’s based in Chicago. According to his bio, Freskos’ reporting at the Trace “has primarily focused on gun trafficking and community-based violence prevention.” To be clear, even though he shares a byline on the story with an actual newspaper reporter, Freskos is paid by Bloomberg as an activist, a position he’s held since 2016, when he graduated from Columbia University.

In the story, Chipman lashes out at everyone, including the White House and the Justice Department. He blames everyone but himself for the fact he became a laughingstock and the greatest meme generator since Joe Biden.

The story portrays Chipman as heroic, and claims the “ugly and personal confirmation process hardened his resolve to focus on gun safety and push back against the industry’s outsize influence on the agency — even if he has to do so from the outside.”

“Chipman said his political fight was minor compared to what victims of gun violence have experienced, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who endured brain injuries from an assassination attempt in 2011,” the story states. “I have the choice of buying a lake house somewhere and turning off social media and saying I give up. What am I going to tell Gabby? She’s still getting out of bed every day. What do I say? ‘This is too hard for me?’ I wasn’t shot in the head.”

AI-powered DoD Data Analysis Program Named “Project Salus” Shatters Official Vaccine Narrative, Shows A.D.E. Accelerating in the Fully Vaccinated with Each Passing Week

The alarming findings show that the vast majority of covid hospitalizations are occurring among fully-vaccinated individuals and that outcomes among the fully vaccinated are growing worse with each passing week. Photo editor Android app STILL sitting on Google Play store is malware

An Android app sitting on the Google Play store touts itself to be a photo editor app. But, it contains code that steals the user's Facebook credentials to potentially run ad campaigns on the user's behalf, with their payment information.

The app is called "Blender Photo Editor-Easy Photo Background Editor" and has been installed over 5,000 times to date.

Last week, similar malicious apps with over 500,000 installs were also found on the Play Store.

"Log in" with Facebook does more than just login

Like many Android apps, the "Blender Photo Editor-Easy Photo Background Editor" app comes with the sign-in with Facebook functionality. Except, it also makes use of your Facebook credentials to do some fishy stuff.

Tatyana Shishkova, an Android Malware Analyst at Kaspersky, discovered the "trojan" app this week which is still available on the Google Play store, at the time of writing.

The app contains malicious code, identical to what was found in similar "photo editor" apps last week by Maxime Ingrao, a security researcher at mobile payments cybersecurity firm Evina.

These Android apps require Android users to sign in via their Facebook account to access the app, but then silently collect the credentials via encrypted JavaScript commands hidden within the app.

The apps then make requests to the Facebook Graph API to peek into the user's Facebook account and look for any ad campaigns and stored payment information.

The malware, according to Ingrao, "is very interested in the advertising campaigns you might have done and if you have a registered credit card." This would allow the attacker behind these apps to create their own ad campaigns via the user's Facebook credentials, and linked payment information.

Identical apps installed over 500,000 times

Ingrao had previously discovered similar malicious apps called "Magic Photo Lab - Photo Editor" and "Pix Photo Motion Edit 2021" with the latter scoring over 500,000 installs.

Both apps have since been removed from the Google Play store.

The researcher shared some insights with BleepingComputer as to how he found something wasn't right with these apps.

"I noticed the suspicious code first by doing a dynamic analysis," Ingrao tells BleepingComputer in an email interview.

"I noticed that the WebView was running JavaScript to retrieve the credentials. Then I downloaded the code and I recoded the function that decrypts the texts inside the code, that's how I found the executed JavaScript and the calls to the Facebook Graph API," continued the French security researcher.

BleepingComputer also analyzed the APK for "Blender Photo Editor-Easy Photo Background Editor," which is still live on Google Play, and can confirm seeing identical malicious code in the app.

During our analysis, we attempted to roughly reconstruct the Java source code of the Android app from the compiled APK (bytecode).

The suspicious class "sources/com/easyblender/blendphoto/Blends/ext/AnaActivity.java" contains the WebView referenced by Ingrao. Additionally, we noticed partial strings, such as, "m.face" and "m.f" referring to m.facebook.com and m.fb.com domains.

The obfuscated code, in various places, contains encrypted strings with JavaScript code that are only decrypted when the app is running live. There are instructions in the code to fetch user's Facebook "access_token" to authenticate to the Facebook API, and accessing Facebook session cookies such as, "c_user"—all of which may appear as part of the normal "Sign-in with Facebook" workflow.

Olympus US systems hit by cyberattack over the weekend

Olympus, a leading medical technology company, was forced to take down IT systems in the Americas (U.S., Canada, and Latin America) following a cyberattack that hit its network Sunday, October 10, 2021.

"Upon detection of suspicious activity, we immediately mobilized a specialized response team including forensics experts, and we are currently working with the highest priority to resolve this issue," Olympus says in a statement published today, two days after the attack.

"As part of the investigation and containment, we have suspended affected systems and have informed the relevant external partners. The current results of our investigation indicate the incident was contained to the Americas with no known impact to other regions."

The company did not disclose if customer or company data was accessed or stolen during the "potential cybersecurity incident," but said that it would provide new information regarding the attack as soon as it's available.

"We are working with appropriate third parties on this situation and will continue to take all necessary measures to serve our customers and business partners in a secure way," Olympus added. "Protecting our customers and partners and maintaining their trust in us is our highest priority."

An Olympus spokesperson told BleepingComputer that the company found no evidence of data loss during an ongoing investigation regarding this incident.

September BlackMatter ransomware attack

This incident follows a ransomware attack that hit Olympus' EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) IT systems in early September.

Even though Olympus did not share any info on the attackers' identity, ransom notes found on impacted systems impacted revealed that BlackMatter ransomware operators coordinated the attack.

The same ransom notes also pointed to a Tor website the BlackMatter group used in the past to communicate with their victims.

Although Olympus, once again, did not reveal much details on the nature of the attack that hit its Americas IT systems, ransomware gangs are known for carrying out their attacks during weekends and holidays to delay detection.

The FBI and CISA said in a joint advisory published in August that they "observed an increase in highly impactful ransomware attacks occurring on holidays and weekends—when offices are normally closed—in the United States, as recently as the Fourth of July holiday in 2021."

Olympus has over 31,000 employees worldwide and more than 100 years of history developing medical, life sciences, and industrial equipment.

The company's camera, audio recorder, and binocular divisions were transferred to OM Digital Solutions, which has been selling and distributing these products since January 2021.

When the Presidential or Secretarial declaration terminates, a hospital must then comply with all the requirements of the Privacy Rule for any patient still under its care, even if 72 hours has not elapsed since implementation of its disaster protocol.

Regardless of the activation of an emergency waiver, the HIPAA Privacy Rule permits disclosures for treatment purposes and certain disclosures to disaster relief organizations. Days After Cops Raid Home, 3D Gun Legend “JStark” Found Dead of “Heart Attack” at 28

The 3D gun pioneer, who invented the rapid-fire 3D-printed gun that could be entirely printed at home, “JStark” has died, according to German magazine Der Spiegel. He passed away in his home, according to the magazine, of a heart attack. He was just 28 years old.

After his invention of the FGC-9 in 2020, JStark became a well-cherished internet hero and news of his death is sending shockwaves through his popular channels. According to Der Spiegel, JStark died on Friday, October 8 of a heart attack.

The magazine reports that it “appears” his death was natural and police ruled out foul play. Adding to the suspicious nature of a 28-year-old man, who appeared to be in good health, dying of a heart attack, however, is the fact that days before he died, on October 6, police raided his home.

On top of being a 3D printing pioneer in the weapons realm, JStark was also an outspoken supporter of free speech, firearms ownership, and anti-political correctness. He was quoted in a documentary as saying, “We want everyone to have the freedom of speech, and the right to bear arms. If that’s too politically extreme for you … f**k yourself.”

Designs for the FGC-9, which stands for “f**k gun control 9 mm,” were made widely available on the internet in late 2020. While many 3D-printed guns require actual gun parts like a magazine or bolt, the FCG-9 was revolutionary in the way it allowed folks to print everything they needed from home. The only thing that could not be 3D printed, but could still be manufactured at home, was the barrel.

The gun, including the printer could be made at home for just $350, which includes the $250 for the printer.

EU to donate $33.47m to Palestinians

The European Union has disbursed €92 million ($33.47 million) to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), following a delay of donations since the start of the year.

In a statement, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said: "We remain determined to support UNRWA both politically and financially, including by providing long term reliability. The Agency plays an essential role in providing vital services to millions of Palestine refugees and stabilising the region."

"Our support to UNRWA is not only a humanitarian duty; it also helps to keep alive the prospects of sustainable peace between Israelis and Palestinians. UNRWA's services remain key to contributing to a viable negotiated two-State solution, including a fair, agreed and realistic solution to the refugee issue."

The European commissioner for neighbourhood and enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, added: "The EU is a reliable and predictable partner, and a top donor of UNRWA. UNRWA plays a stabilising role in the region. It must continue to do so, with a clear focus on its core mandate. We will leave no issue off the table in finding innovative approaches to find a sustainable financing model."

UNRWA's funding comes almost entirely from voluntary donations made by UN member states. The agency faced severe financial difficulties since the US administration of President Donald Trump stopped US aid donations altogether in 2018

In April, however, the administration of President Joe Biden announced that it was planning to provide $235 million in aid in a bid to engage with the Palestinian Authority (PA) and move forward with a two-state solution.

Prior to the Trump administration's cuts, the US had been providing UNRWA some $350 million a year, more than a quarter of the agency's $1.2 billion annual budget.

"Others need to step up and join the EU and EU Member states in providing predictable multiannual funding," added Oliver. "We will continue to work with UNRWA to strengthen the Agency's governance systems and help step up transparency and sound management. We remain also firmly committed to promote quality education for Palestinian children and ensure full compliance with UNESCO standards in education material."

UNRWA was created in 1949 to provide assistance and protection for the Palestinian refugees who were forced out of their homes to make way for the creation of the state of Israel.

The organisation currently offers its services to about 5.3 million Palestinians refugees in the occupied territories, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

House Budget Chair John Yarmuth to retire from Congress

Rep. John Yarmuth (D-Ky.), chairman of the House Budget Committee, announced on Tuesday that he will not be seeking reelection.

“The truth be told, I never expected to be in Congress this long. I always said I couldn't imagine being here longer that 10 years. After every election, I was asked how long I intended to serve, and I never had an answer,” Yarmuth, who was first elected to the House in 2006, said in a video announcement on Tuesday afternoon.

“Today, I do, this term will be my last,” Yarmuth continued.

While the 73-year-old lawmaker said in the clip that he “is in excellent health,” he added that he knows “the significant physical demands of the job will only become more challenging.”

Former Mossad chief says Iran ‘no closer than before’ to obtaining nukes

Former Mossad intelligence chief Yossi Cohen said Tuesday that Iran is not close to obtaining nuclear weapons, undercutting claims by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and others that Tehran is on the cusp of building a nuclear bomb.

“I think that at the end of the day, Iran is not close to reaching any nuclear weapons. It is no closer than before, and that’s thanks to the great effort we made,” Cohen said at the Jerusalem Post Conference at the Museum of Tolerance in downtown Jerusalem.

“I think they have less support for what they do than in the past,” Cohen said.

In August, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said Iran was only two months away from acquiring the materials necessary for a nuclear weapon. And in July, former IDF chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot said Iran was the closest it had ever been to a nuclear bomb.

According to Israeli assessments, even after acquiring the necessary materials, it would take at least several more months after that for Iran to perform the additional steps necessary to produce a deliverable nuclear bomb.

At the UN General Assembly late last month, Bennett warned that Iran’s nuclear weapons program was “at a critical point,” what he called a “watershed moment,” and that “all red lines have been crossed.” He said then: “Over the past few years, Iran has made a major leap forward, in its nuclear R&D, in its production capacity, and in its enrichment.”

Bennett on Tuesday charged Iran with “blatantly violating” commitments made to the International Atomic Energy Agency and voiced threats to take action against Tehran.

Former DNI Ratcliffe says he's given Durham 1,000 intel documents he thinks support more charges

Ratcliffe said former Justice official Michael Sussmann just "the first of what I would hope would be a number" of others charged in Russia probe

Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe says he's given John Durham, investigating the Justice Department actions in its Russia collusion probe, a trove of documents that he thinks support charges beyond those recently filed against cybersecurity lawyer Michael Sussman.

"Sussmann's is the first of what I would hope would be a number," of additional people charged, he told Fox News on Sunday.

Ratcliffe made the argument on what he said was "1,000 intelligence community documents" that he thinks support additional charges that he would "expect" Durham to bring, in addition to the declassified documents he's provided.

Durham, a former Connecticut attorney general, was appointed by the Trump administration to look into the origins of the federal investigation into whether the 2016 Trump presidential campaign colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the election.

A grand jury recently indicted against Sussmann, former federal prosecutor, of lying to the FBI.

Ratcliffe, who oversaw the country's 17 intelligence agencies in the latter part of the Trump administration, announced in October that he handed over the roughly 1,000 pages of materials to the Justice Department to assist with Durham's investigation, according to the Washington Examiner.

Ratcliffe has also declassified two heavily redacted Russia-related documents, including handwritten notes from former CIA Director John Brennan showing he briefed then-President Barack Obama in 2016 on an unverified Russian intelligence report.

The report claimed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton planned in July 2016 on tying then-candidate Donald Trump to Russia’s hack of the Democratic National Committee to distract from her improper use of a private email server, the Examiner also reports.

Sussmann, a former attorney at Perkins Coie, is accused of falsely telling an FBI lawyer he was not representing any clients when acting on behalf of a technology executive and Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign during a September 2016 meeting on possible links between Trump and Russia.

Sussmann has pleaded not guilty to the charge of lying to the FBI.

Durham has so far obtained one guilty plea – from former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who admitted to altering an email about a Trump campaign aide under government surveillance.

There was no follow-up by the press on the matter of Hunter Biden’s apparent influence-peddling (such as about Britain’s Daily Mail having reported, on 17 December 2020, that “Bobulinski revealed an email sent from Hunter Biden to Ye in June of 2017 in which he sends Ye his ‘best wishes from the entire Biden family’” — including, of course, the U.S. President). But federal authorities have copied the contents of at least one of Hunter Biden’s laptops, and know all the email and documents that were on it, and yet the press (other than Britain’s Daily Mail) shunned any evidence, anywhere, that might go beyond what Bobulinski and “corporate documents” had disclosed to the WSJ. All liberal ‘news’-media (and most conservative ones) shunned any such investigations. (There are no mainstream progressive U.S. news-media; and, therefore, liberal and conservative ones are pretty much the entire media-spectrum in the U.S./UK empire.

Other such similar matters have likewise been ignored by most of the billionaires-controlled U.S. and UK press; but a few conservative, pro-Republican-Party, billionaires have had their media look further into Hunter Biden’s influence-peddling. Currently the vaccine status scans are registered by happy compliance workers, greeters at the entry to the business or venue. Indeed, the WalMart greeter has a new gadget to scan your phone prior to allowing your custody of a shopping cart.

In restaurants the host or hostess has a similar compliance scanner to check you in prior to seating or reservation confirmation.

It’s simple and fun. You pull up your QR code on your cell phone (aka portable transponder and registration device), using the registration App and your phone is scanned delivering a green check response to confirm your correct vaccination status and authorized entry.

The Australian government at both a federal and state level are working closely with Big Tech companies (thirsting for the national contract) to evaluate the best universal process that can be deployed nationwide.

As noted by all six Premiers’ in the states down under, hardware (scanners) and software (registration) systems are all being tested to find the most comprehensive/convenient portable units to settle upon. Meanwhile in the U.S. cities like Los Angeles and New York await the beta test conclusion before deploying their own version of the same process.

Sinopec refines a lot of oil. With the cancelation of Keystone XL, which would have moved Canadian oil to the U.S. for processing, Sinopec gains while the U.S. loses.

Sinopec, also known as China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, is a Chinese Communist regime-controlled oil and gas enterprise. Its “fully-owned subsidiary” Sinopec Marketing Company enjoyed nearly $1 billion in investment from Hunter Biden’s private equity firm BHR Partners.

All those middle-class union jobs Biden likes to drool over in public (increasingly, literally), privately had to be axed to keep Hunter in hookers and blow, and to keep Joe in the lifestyle he’s accustomed to having other people buy for him.

Sinopec’s record-breaking success follows the Biden regime’s assault on American energy independence, including the cancellation of the critical Keystone XL Pipeline and shutting down oil and gas lease sales from federal land in his first days in office.

Did the Big Guy get his ten percent?

YouTube Removes Pro-Family Group’s Page for Sharing Bannon War Room Interview Clips featuring Posobiec, Kassam, & Schilling.

The video streaming service has admitted to mass removing accounts that posted short interview clips from Bannon's War Room.

Google-owned YouTube removed the account of a leading conservative pressure group on Monday, with The National Pulse learning that the zero-strike ban stemmed from the upload of three interviews from Stephen K. Bannon’s War Room podcast, also banned on the network.

In an e-mail to the American Principles Project, which saw its archive of videos removed without warning, YouTube admitted to censoring the whole account because of three historic interview clips from Bannon’s podcast, which was banned in January after a censorship campaign by far-left activists.

An e-mail from YouTube to the American Principles Project, seen by The National Pulse, states:

Your channel was originally terminated for violating our Terms of Service by uploading content from Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast channel, which was terminated in January 2021 for repeatedly violating our Community Guidelines. Our circumvention policies do not allow other channels to reupload content that has been duly removed from YouTube for policy violations. We enforce our policies equally for everyone, and per our Terms of Service, if we’re made aware of a channel that is reuploading content from a previously terminated channel, we may remove that content or terminate the channel reuploading the content.

Accepting that the American Principles Project was likely unaware that simply uploading interviews of their staff appearing on the War Room would lead to a removal of their entire containing hundreds of videos dating back to 2013, the YouTube spokesman said the company would reinstate the account:

Given that you were likely unaware of this policy, our team reviewed your appeal and reinstated your channel. In accordance with our three-strikes system, we have issued your account a one-time warning. Please note that per this system, this warning will remain on your channel, and the next time your content is found to violate our Community Guidelines, your channel will receive a strike, which may result in the loss of uploading privileges.

CBP Officers Seize over $16 Million in Methamphetamine at Pharr International Bridge

PHARR, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge Cargo Facility intercepted $16,512,400 in alleged methamphetamine.

“This massive load of methamphetamine will not reach our city streets thanks to our CBP officers and their great teamwork and utilization of all available tools and resources,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.

On Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, CBP officers assigned to the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility encountered a commercial tractor trailer, arriving from Mexico. A CBP officer referred the conveyance for further inspection, which included utilizing non-intrusive imaging (NII) equipment and screening by a (canine team). After physically inspecting the conveyance, officers discovered 468 packages of alleged methamphetamine weighing 1,179.47 pounds (535kg) concealed within the trailer.

CBP OFO seized the narcotics and vehicle, and the case remains under investigation by agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI).
