>It would be a community of modern day log cabins and farmsteads with a one room schoolhouse and a schoolmarm.

This is how it all began. The little 'schoolhouse and schoolmarm'. The beginning of the end of worthwhile, functional learning.

The "marm" going out to all the ranches and farms. berating the parents, and pulling the children out and into the 'schoolhouse' caused more harm than good.

Those family homesteads needed those children to help the parents keep it running, and learn themselves "how to" run the damn thing sucessfully.

The idea that has been proffered for over two centuries, that the "unschooled" [schoolhouse captured] were illiterate is BS. Most farmers could read and write amongst other things. They were not stupid.

Furthermore most were God fearing.

What good is the Good Book if you cannot read it. Both parents successfully taught their children at home, and thrived.
