Former Clinton adviser James Carville said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that President Joe Biden and the Democrats were using an “idiotic” strategy to sell the Build Back Better agenda.
Carville said, “Democrats in Congress are asked to do very popular things. It doesn’t take much courage to negotiate prescription drug prices. It doesn’t take much courage to raise taxes on the wealthy. It doesn’t take much courage for expand health care. Somebody has to get into the room, OK. We want to do ten things, we can do five. Take the other five and run them in 2022. They have got to understand the reality is they’re just running around like people in a locker room banging their helmets against the lockers. That is not going to do you any good. You are not going move any further than Joe Manchin, and Kyrsten Sinema. So quit this idiotic protesting and hounding them. Tell President Biden get them in the room, get the speaker in there, get the majority leader, let’s hammer something out and what we don’t get let’s go for it in 2022. This is an idiotic strategy I’m seeing. These are all popular things.”
Melber said, “Is that a failure of Democratic messaging?”
Carville said, “Of course it is. They didn’t get out in the country enough, didn’t sell it enough.”
When Melber asked why Democrats did not sell Biden’s plan more, Carville said, “They think it’s beneath them to go out and sell.”

Los Angeles City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas (D) was indicted on federal bribery charges Wednesday in connection with an alleged scheme to provide lucrative contracts in exchange for his son being admitted to a university masters program.
Ridley-Thomas and Marilyn Louise Flynn, who was the dean of the University of Southern California's School of Social Work, are charged with over 20 counts of bribery and fraud in connection with the scheme that ran from 2017 to 2018, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said in a statement.
Ridley-Thomas, who at the time was a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, allegedly sought to get his son, Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, into the social work masters program, along with a full scholarship and paid position as a professor, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Women in the fertile stages of their monthly cycle show an increased level of creativity compared to other times of the month, researchers claim.
A study, which involved 751 women completing a creative task was carried out in Poland by experts from SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw.
The team studied women with regular menstrual cycles who were not using hormonal contraceptives, to get a baseline for the link to creativity.

More than 10,000 Deere & Company workers went on strike Thursday after the company allegedly "failed to present an agreement that met" the demands and needs of union members.
The United Auto Workers union said its members — who are seeking an improved standard of living, retirement benefits and a better work environment — would walk off the job by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 13 if a deal wasn't reached.
However, a vast majority of the union members, about 90%, rejected a tentative agreement reached by the union and John Deere earlier this week even though it would have delivered 5% raises to some workers and 6% raises to others.
"Our members at John Deere strike for the ability to earn a decent living, retire with dignity and establish fair work rules," said Chuck Browning, vice president of UAW’s Agricultural Implement Department. "We stay committed to bargaining until our members’ goals are achieved."
Thousands of members have already set up pickets at John Deere locations and are "ready to hold out and fight for a contract they believe meets their needs," said Ron McInroy, director of UAW Region 4.
