The poll results are always right down the middle. They do this so nobody ever feels like the strong majority on anything. That way we're perfectly divided and not looking at them. They could ask the most ridiculously insane question like "is it ok to kill babies a day after birth" and the poll would say 55% No, albeit with a 3-5% variation potential.
