>I remember last year they were mailing out free gadgets to people through amazon

Last YEAR? How about last WEEK. Anon got a cheap Chinese space heater, tracked down who sells the crap and got Amazon on chat. Anon raised absolute hell and got offered $20. which I told them to shove and to not ever send unsolicited junk ever again. They apologized repeatedly but never outright said "yes, we did it". I think it's this one, too lazy to snap a pic

The space heater shows up on the porch in no packaging except the box in came in with an addy label slapped onto it. There is no sender info so anon goes looking, checking the QR code, the bar code. DuckDuck search turns up Amazon as the most likely suspect and then after a brief panic attack (card comp'd?) I find the chat and proceed to lay into them. First thought: Surely they wouldn't use this as some kind of eavesdropping…nah I'm being paranoid…still… so the box remained unopened and I gave it to the neighbor.
