One killed, several injured in shooting at Grambling State University
One person was killed and several others were injured in a shooting at Grambling State University in Louisiana on Sunday.
In a statement shared to Facebook, the university said a non-student was killed, while at least one enrolled student was injured in the shooting which took place at 1:15 p.m. in the quad area of campus during a homecoming event.
"All persons present sheltered in place and were released once the all-clear was given by University Police," the university said.
The university also canceled the remaining homecoming activities scheduled for Saturday and classes on Monday.
Louisiana State Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.

Ronnie Tutt, drummer for Elvis Presley and original member of the TCB Band, has died at 83.
Elvis Presley Enterprises announced Tutt's death Saturday morning, writing on the Graceland website "all of us with Elvis Presley Enterprises were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ronnie Tutt. In addition to being a legendary drummer, he was a good friend to many of us here at Graceland."

1 deputy dead, 2 injured after ambush at Houston bar
One deputy is dead and two are injured after an early-morning ambush at a bar in Houston.
The incident happened just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Houston Police Department.
James Jones, executive assistant chief, told reporters that three Harris County constable deputies were working an extra shift at the 45 North Bar and Lounge when they responded to a disturbance outside.
“We believe they were ambushed, shot from behind (by) a suspect with a rifle,” Jones said. It’s still unclear whether the deputies were able to return fire, he said.
Two of them were trying to arrest a person “when a second suspect ambushed them both from behind a vehicle,” Mark Herman, of Harris County Constable Precinct 4, wrote on Facebook.
“Our third Deputy heard the gunfire and rushed to the parking lot and was shot immediately,” he added.
One of the first deputies who was shot, Kareem Atkins, died from his wounds, according to the constable’s office. Atkins, 30, recently returned to work after parental leave and leaves behind a wife and 2-month-old baby.

Heavy Rains, Landslides Leave At Least 18 Dead In South India
At least 18 people have died a day after torrential rains swept through villages and flooded roads in the southern Indian state of Kerala.
Officials said rescuers recovered the bodies in two of the worst-hit districts, Kottayam and Idukki, where the heavy downpours triggered massive landslides, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency.
The National Disaster Response Force and the Indian Army deployed teams to help with rescue efforts as several are still feared to be missing.
On Saturday, when the heavy rains began, television reports showed people wading through chest-deep waters to rescue passengers from a bus that was nearly submerged by the torrents flooding the roads.
The state chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, urged residents on Sunday to exercise extreme caution even though the intense rainfall has since subsided. Over a 100 relief camps have been set up, he added.
