Indeed. The point was never to predict the future, it is to put waymarkers down so that events happen, we can prove that Q was referencing them.
The statement is: "Future proves past."
Not "Past predicts the future"
Probably managed to tag myself, too. If you want to jump down an interesting rabbit hole about DNA and 23andMe, there should be old notables about it. In fact, I know that there were because I was involved in the discussion.
It sort of all began with the Cosmic Serpent, which essentially detailed that knowledge could actually be contained within our DNA.

Probably more like Inhumans from Marvel, to be honest and a lot of people will say that's not the case and it's just a movie/show whatever, but people have been putting the truth in the media for forever.
