There are many mysterious places in Wales but none more so than the ancient church of St Peters-super-Montem in Glamorgan. Once it was at a great political centre, close to the walls of the fabled Caer Caradoc–Castle of Caradoc, and just to the east lay a township and trading centre known as Por-tref = The Supreme Town, which today is only visible as a place name on a map and as outlines of buildings and enclosures on infra-red photographs taken from the air above.
