The Magnitsky Act personally sanctions scores of Russian business and government leaders. The Magnitsky Act responds to Russian human rights abuse. The alleged human rights abuses seem to be the brutal death in prison of one man.

The man killed in prison was Sergai Magnitsky. He was the lawyer for British Billionaire Bill Browder, cofounder of Hermitage Capital. Magnitsky was investigating theft of assets from Browder's business.

All this noise over the death of one billionaire's lawyer seems strange.
