the Farms to Families program the POTUS Trump had with food banks was absolutely awesome. I went twice during the 'lockdowns' and they literally filled my whole car with fresh fruits and vegetables. Canned, froze and dehydrated a LOT. Not just expired cans of shit!

It's a slippery slope.
When I was a kid I went to a church where one of the members was a farmer and had a farm stand.
Every Sunday, in the summer, they would load up the back of their pick-up truck with whatever produce didn't sell at their farm stand during the week and hand it out to people in the parking lot after church. It was very generous and kind of them to do this. They didn't want to see the good food go to waste.
But what if people quit shopping at their farm stand and waited until Sunday to get the "free stuff"? The farmers would go bankrupt because no one was buying stuff at their farm stand.
The whole system would fall apart.

My grandfather fed the neighborhood with his vegetables from his garden and eggs from his henhouse during the great depression. It didnt make them lazy, it made them survive and grateful and they were the hardest working generation of all time!
