between the fag kid and this, DC comics just keeps getting worse and worse, they picked up a few years ago and actually the family dynamic with superman and his kid was really great to read, But comics have all gone down the shitter the last few years, marvel is even worse.
there is an argument that could be made but even with the distopian visions of these characters by alan moore and frank miller there was a bunch of really great stuff from both companies well into the 90s after that gets a little more hit and miss. Most of the stuff i still have areolder books or artists that i really enjoy and most of those guys are ones that popped up in the last 70s or 80s. Like John Bryne. Comics were always political to some degree but the level of sheer propaganda over the last 5 years has just gone over the edge. Very few original ideas any more. Trying to change that myself but uphill struggle in the culture war.

I am just a artist witha bachelors but damn i would love to help with that effort somehow, to bring the love of classics and beauty back in conjunction with the trades. A combination of both i think would be wonderful.
would argue that, the 70s especially the late 70s were when most of the companies were struggling to even stay afloat. If you are talking underground comics perhaps, but when you look at the Dark Pheonix saga, or crisis on infinite earths or dark knight returns, or watchmen those really were the heights of the art form. Sure you had Kirby still doing stuff but his 70s stuff was really hit and miss, The new gods was interesting and you had the Green Arrow/Green Lantern social commentary stuff, But nothing really epic. They were still focused on the one or two issue story lines, but a bunch of the big names of the 80s got their start in the seventies, as i said John Bryne, George Perez, top of the field, one of my personal favorites Dave STevens was 1982 with the rocketeer.
the big issue is the distribution and set up and capital needed to do it. Another problem just for example using comics as a example is that people while they complain that there are no new stories or characters, also refuse to buy or purchase untested properties. SO they will continue to buy the big name stuff while there are tons of small independent producers trying to break through. Comicsgate is a good example of that, i am trying to do it myself also. But publishing for example is really hard for the costs involved in printing. YOu have this publishers that can print books so cheaply its almost a joke, but someone like myself trying to self start and put out a 130 page illustrated book costs 12 bucks to print, so it keeps creators out of the market, and also the buyers are not willing to pay more than buying a mass marketed thing that is printed cheaply and cost next to nothing. Movies i would assume have a similar problem, same with TV.
would agree, been talk in here about bringing back the old school house model single class room little house on the prairie idea. Educators are a big part of the problem, but when you have so much bureaucracy and administration dictating what happens it is what causes the issues. So yeah i guess you could boil it down to government interference. Home schooling would be the best option, but not every parent is prepared or able to do that mentally or pragmatically because of work of their own to support the family. But part of the reason that has happened is women have been forced out of the home to work and now there is no one to look after the children, so they get shipped of to a concrete camp for 8 hours a day to be brainwashed. Then the parents have no idea that they have been taught to cut their dick off . Fucked up situation.
i am really interested in this gonna have to look into finding that book gatto wrote. Figures the rockerfellers were behind this. System is all fucked. Not even sure how to untangle the mess at this point. Generations fucked by conformity.
oh i am already on it getting ready to release a book that has a christian message, what i consider beautiful illustrations to help both kids and adults who are going through hard times and show there is a path towards redemption through Christ. 5 year project coming to fruition and already working on the next projects as well. Just takes a long time doing it all yourself.
ty very much, i do think God helped me complete it and i know it helped me writing it so i hope it can help others as well. Gotta change the culture somehow and God willing this will help people on their own journeys.
