Why are hospitals hiring traveling employees over local employees?

Someone reposted this on FB from 3 years ago and I just posted this below in the comments.

Of course, this is common sense. But, especially since the CCP COVID (common cold) “gain of function” mutant bioweapon was released from Wuhan in late 2019, the real problem has been outside unseen “forces” actively trying to destroy small businesses at the local level so that globalist backed corporate monopolies can then come in & offer those services and/or products for profit for fewer and tighter hands.

This has been obvious for products (eg sold on Amazon) and energy (eg America no longer energy independent), but it’s also happening in health care. For example, my son who works as a nurse at a local hospital in WY is strongly considering becoming a traveling nurse because he can get paid 3 times more and work more hours. For some unknown reason, his hospital will not increase wages for local employees nor allow them to work more hours even though the hospital is understaffed. This includes local employees who have worked there for 30 years and personally knows most of the local patients who come in!!

Instead, the hospital is being incentivized by something (subsidized by the Feds???) to hire traveling nurses from outside the community, paying them significantly more with more hours.

My son is totally mystified by it because it doesn’t make any rational or economic sense for a local hospital not to view their local employees as assets.

Do anons here having insight to what’s going on?
